With every dip of the paddle, little ripples broke the stillness of the lake's surface, and created an undulating pattern across the water. It was gentle, easy, quiet, quite beautiful.

And so peaceful.

It's the end of the day, and, you know, it's been a perfect one.

Long ago we kicked off our shoes so we could walk barefoot in the sand. Walk, and stroll, and wade in the water. Watch people fly kites. Laugh at the dogs that chase tennis balls (do they ever tire of this game?).

Listen to the surf. Create an impromptu sand castle and watch the waves flow over it.

Yesterday we took our family to our favorite #nature park in #Louisiana. It was my 3 month old nephew’s very first hike and the first place I ever found #WildClay years ago when we lived in Baton Rouge.
