It's Fantasy Fest time and Danielle, Hayley's coworker at Key Zest is the queen of the event this year. Things go horribly wrong when her most ardent rival is poisoned during the zombie bike ride.

Pleading the Fish by Bree Baker and Thérèse Plummer (Narrator) (2022) is the satisfying conclusion to the Seaside Café mystery series. Everly Swan and Grady Hayes are engaged and actively seeking to disprove the Swan family curse. Unfortunately for both there's also a murder to solve: the killing of the woman who was helping them research the curse.

Tell-Tale Treats by Jennifer J Chow and Catherine Ho (Narrator) (2026) is the third book in the Magical Fortune Cookie mystery series. The Pixie Inn is hosting a small reunion for a once tight knit clique of women who met in high school. Their leader and self professed queen bee is a demanding woman and clearly the group isn't as close as it once was. When she is found dead in a bathtub, Felicity fears her almond cookies might have been the cause.

I've finished: Drunk on All Your Strange New Words by Eddie Robson
First of all, this is a wonderful mystery, lead by an amateur detective. Her flaws and awkward pursuit of the truth are what kept me glued to this novel.
While this is a novel about an alien embassy to earth, it is more a study of human culture than alien culture.
A climate change destabilized humanity deals badly with the soft power of an alien embassy's cultural attache.
Robson contrasts the aliens that are disinterested in digital media and humanity that is consumed by it. The telepathic aliens that find it hard to lie and obfuscate and the humans that can't stop.

Trouble Wore Red by Chris Lewis and James Meunier (Narrator) (2025) is a noir inspired mystery with a science fiction setting. Imagine a blending of the world of Cowboy Bebop / Carole and Tuesday with the mysteries of Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler. Now imagine a group of characters who have reached middle age and feel it in every muscle; that's this book and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lindsay Norris has been offered a priceless collection of rare first editions from the Dorchester family's vast collection. Unfortunately, tucked in with the books is the body of a long missing woman, last seen in the late 1980s.

Bunny and her male costars head to Scotland to investigate the Ghostly Piper. While there they discover the body of one of the piping competition, dead at the bottom of a cliff.

Death by Bubble Tea by Jennifer J. Chow and Stephanie Sheh (Narrator) (2022) is the first mystery in the Night Market series. Yale Yee, working with her estranged cousin, Celine, discovers the body of one of their first customers at the end of the Night Market. Worried that Celine's extra ingredient (gold flakes) might have contributed to the woman's death, she decides to investigate.

Fatal First Edition by Jenn McKinlay and Allyson Ryan (Narrator) (2024) is the 14th Library Lover's mystery. Although the mystery hinges on a rare copy of Strangers on a Train by Patricia Highsmith (1950), the mystery draws most heavily from Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie (1934) and Hitchock's earlier film, The Lady Vanishes (1938).
