#OTD in 1818.

The first performance of "Silent Night" takes place in the Nikolauskirche in Oberndorf, Austria.

The song was first recorded in 1905. It was declared an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2011.

The Christmas song Stille Nacht, autograph (ca. 1860) by Franz Xaver Gruber (1787–1863).

The sheet is filled with neatly penned musical staves, notes, and lyrics, characteristic of 19th-century script.

At the top, the title "Stille Nacht" is prominently written, accompanied by Gruber's name and possibly a dedication or explanatory note in German.

The paper might appear slightly yellowed or browned with age, reflecting its mid-19th-century origin.

The ink may have a rich, faded black or sepia tone, showing the passage of time.

Both the lyrics, written by Joseph Mohr, and the melody, composed by Gruber, are likely present in German, formatted for vocal and instrumental performance.

See? Radio Irrtum! is not only a hobby of mine, it is a cooperate effort across the Fediverse to get a beautiful sound mix of positive insanity.

Unfortunately the sound quality of my voice is… bad – can't help it. Am not @ home at the moment – am supporting my parents during an awkward situation onsite - no "studio" env here. U will understand me anyhow :). Tried to hide it with a space echo alike effect, but well…

I had written and recorded this folk/country song. It was just me playing the guitar and singing. Then I had this dream.

I climbed a tall mountain. There, at the very top, sat Bob Marley. He said to me, "Your song, man. It needs percussion." I said, "Okay." He said, "And bass. Lots of bass. Oh! And maybe try a better rhythm, man!"

"Got it!"

Suddenly, Elton John parachuted in, knocking Bob down the mountain slope. He wore those really big glasses and bright red boots. With parachute dangling like a cape, he exclaims, "That's much better than that dirge you had! Now, let me show you how to mix this! There are other instruments!"

"Perfect!," I replied. "Is this everything I should do?"

"Oh, and do lose the sad guitar. Ugh."
