Lily Allen's new album, "West End Girls" is storytelling "in its barest and sharpest form," writes Charisma Madarang for @RollingStone. She breaks down why it's resonating so much with women. “Women have financially, emotionally, and mentally done the work to advance ourselves, and now we’re realizing we don’t need to keep putting ourselves in situations where men embarrass us or do things that make us feel ashamed,” says Jessica Resendez, a social media editor with two children who is out of a long relationship.

English engineer and writer on music George Grove was born #OTD in 1820.
He is best known as the founding editor of Grove's Dictionary of Music and Musicians. He stated, in the prospectus of the dictionary, in March 1874, that "The want of English works on the history, theory, or practice of Music, or the biographies of musicians accessible to the non-professional reader, has long been a subject of remark."

There's a track I'd love to share from a small independent musician, but they've decided to use AI artwork so it makes it seem like the music itself is slop too (even though it isn't) 😞
I know most musicians don't have a budget for artwork, but there are many free alternatives to AI such as creative commons (https://commons.wikimedia.org has lots of CC images for example). Even just having the name of the track would be much better than AI.

We have a whole host of music discoveries that we're excited to share with you over the coming months as part of our #MirloMondays tag, but we don't believe in gatekeeping or only giving editorial to a select few. With that in mind, the floor is open for this week!
Post your Mirlo releases below and tell us a bit about what you make. 🎧🐦⬛

For those lucky to have the means to buy gifts this holiday season, #MindfulSpending is power.
Do we really need more stuff this year, or should we spend on causes that need support?
We don’t stop billionaires by pouring more money into their pockets. Collectively, we can shift the holiday spend to small businesses, small presses, indie #art & #music, etc.
Imagine that.
I listened to the episode of Strong Songs about the music of Star Wars: Andor. Wow. Now I'm watching the show again, just to listen to the music.

Over at MakerTube (@atkwap) I created a little #Video for the first piece of my recent release “Piano Particles” – actually I only had video footage for this one piece. It's rather a static video, which I think isn't too bad since it should not distract from this minimalist piano improvisation.
