People slag it off, and sure it has issues, but I always enjoy it!
TIL it was Alex Cox (Repo Man) who came up with the idea.
Rewatched (for the 7th? 8th? time) in #MonsterMiru watch party on Mastodon (after #Monsterdon).
finished watching Mothra 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑
Watched the 90 minute English dub in #Monsterdon watch party on Monsterdon.

#rootpost for #monsterdon (the quatermass experiment)
who says your movie hase to have a "resolution" or "satisfying conclusion"
those things are for cowards
you can just stop your movie at an arbitrary point and roll the credits. no one can stop you
sick canoe brah! #monsterdon #monsREIdon
Despite a list of filters two pages long, doom headlines are regularly hitting me in the gut. For someone in deep nervous system exhaustion and AuDHD burnout, this is a real problem. I'm going to try and be on Mastodon a lot less. Saving Sunday for #Monsterdon of course!
I have no idea if this will look any different to mufos - if I'm checking once a day vs many times, who will know or care? But I do value my connections very much. So if it seems like I'm interacting less, this is why. <3
tonight! for #monsterdon's viewing of The Quatermass Xperiment (1955) i'm planning on doing an unofficial ad-free bootleg-ass owncast livestream of the movie again at https://miru.miyaku.media 🗼
⏰ pre-stream countdown with music from Quatermass, Ultra Q E21 “Space Directive M774”, and trailer starts at ~8:15pm eastern
🎥 The Quatermass Xperiment (1955) starts at 9pm eastern (English audio, hardcoded English subtitles)
🦋 didn’t get enough Mothra? stick around for Rebirth of Mothra (1996, Japanese audio with hardcoded English subtitles)
❗please have a backup option just-in-case
Y'all. I am so excited for #monsterdon tonight.
I have no idea how I did not know that Masters of the Universe (1987) existed. I was not like a huge He-Man fan or anything, but look, I was an 8 year old suburban American boy in 1987, how on earth did I not know that there was a live action movie of this.
It looks *awful*, and I am so here for this.
It's on IA: https://archive.org/details/masters-of-the-universe-1987_202304, watch it with us at 7 MST!
And warm up with this absolute banger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR7wOGyAzpw
CRITTERS!
It's time for #Monsterdon
I will be watching a bad monster movie with a couple hundred of my closest friends for the next couple of hours. Join in! Critters (1986) is streaming free on Tubi! Or mute the #monsterdon tag to miss our shenanigans Or wonder what the hell I'm tooting about! Or watch a totally different movie and pretend our toots are about that! I'm not your boss! (Unless I am, sorry.)
This opening immediately hits differently without a laugh track
pausing my top tier executive function day where i have reached layer 3 cleaning status to make a #rootpost for #monsterdon (Planet Earth)
yes, like kirk, he's going to fuck his way to mission complete
Are you yeti for #Monsterdon?
Watch along, mute the tag, or prepare for a torrent of million-year old jokes to be unfrozen from the ice!
Root post for #Monsterdon: LASERBLAST!
(If you don't want to see me, and others, posting for two hours about kid from the 70s finding an alien laser, and, well, blasting, with it, mute the hashtag, this thread, or me)
The trailer for this movie seems to fit the title exactly: it mostly consists of Laser Blasts, plus a couple shots of E.T.-ripoff aliens[*] . However, I am suspicious: knowing the trailers for #Monsterdon -tier movies, I bet they put every single special effect that they could afford to film in the trailer, and the movie consists of 2 minutes of action and 83 minutes of characters I couldn't care less about saying things I don't want to hear.
So: go on this journey with me and let's find out together!
* Wait, this movie came out four years BEFORE E.T., which raises the fascinating possibility that Spielberg ripped of his alien design FROM THIS THING, HWAT?
Another #Monsterdon is in the can!
Special thanks to our guest host @wohali, filling in for @Taweret!

Jess Franco presents: a very sensual #monsterdon
over the years (years omg) of hosting #monsterdon, I've heard from a lot of people that it's their little safe space. It's two hours a week where they can take a breath, laugh and connect with other people and not think about everything heavy and overwhelming in the world
Rest is not ignorance. You can't face real monsters if you're burnt out and hopeless. Sometimes, a little time with fake monsters is exactly what gives people the strength to keep going
Oh, hi, I didn't see you there. It must be because I'm distracted by the #Monsterdon happening in about 30 minutes (7 MDT).
If you don't want to learn what happens when Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster, then you just might want to mute the #Monsterdon hashtag (Preferences -> Filters -> Add New in the Mastodon web UI, for example). or Or OR you could check out #MonsterdonAlert for details, and you could follow that hashtag and watch along! And you could find out with us the answers to life's most important questions, such as: What happens when Frankenstein meets the Space Monster?
Another #Monsterdon is in the can!
Thanks to @Taweret for hosting!
Tonight's feature, #Bog, from 1979, didn't get ... cough ... bogged down in silly details like plot or character development. Instead we got,
Dynamite fishing!
Fry the Gun Elf!
Bog Witch!
Hypodemic Nurdle!
Bog Tumor!
Fifteen minutes of murky underwater footage!
Bog Eggs!
Blood Scent Generator!
Slime Trail!
Flammable Bog Monster!
Question Mark Ending!
Hi, I discovered that the Internet Archive has some deleted scenes from tonight's #Monsterdon movie, Starcrash (1979). I am intrigued and horrified regarding (a) what kind of scene is so bad that it gets cut from Monsterdon fare, and (b) the concept of a Monsterdon movie that has enough of a budget that they can afford to cut scenes, and are not basically compelled to put every second they shot on screen.
Anyway I intend to watch them after the main feature if anyone wants to join me.
