Note: The latter two I prefer if @threads by #Meta owns for obvious reasons (too many spammers & scammers out nowadays).
The previous two however there are no restrictions or preferences for ownership.
Apparently, if you have facebook or Instagram installed on your phone, #Meta was able to track your browsing habits and link them to your real identity even if you never logged in on the web, used incognito mode or a VPN. I hope Meta gets hit with every fine in the book.

Hyperion's name comes from two Greek words that together mean "watcher from above" or "he who goes above".
Hyperion was a Titan, the ancient Greek gods that preceded the Olympian gods like Zeus, Athena, etc. Prometheus, Atlas, and the word Titan itself are frequently used to name tech projects. A fun web search is "COMPANY_NAME Titan"; try it. It seems lost on these folks that the Titans were deposed by the Olympian gods and condemned to an eternity in Tartarus, a kind of hell. In other words they're the loser gods, if you want to be simplistic and vulgar about it.
It is believed that one of Hyperion's offspring, Helios, as well as all of Helios's offspring, were imagined as being black-skinned.
My wife, who is a classicist, and I regularly shake our heads about the names of tech projects like this. I always ask her for the dirt on the name, and she always delivers (as in the above, which I credit to her).

Je suis internaute depuis 1995, ouvert des comptes sur les réseaux sociaux au fur et à mesure de leurs apparitions, et je l'ai ai fermé, sans aucun regret, dès lors qu'ils franchissaient la ligne rouge : me prendre pour un demeuré.
Les copains d'avant, MySpace, Facebook, puis Twitter, Instagram. Tous clos, en ne laissant rien derrière moi.
Ce que je suis n'est pas dans leurs serveurs, ne nourrit pas l'iA.
Ce que je suis ne doit pas faire l'objet d'une transaction, ou d'un élément constitutif d'une ambition idéologique.

Starting to feel like this 2025 Influx of users is much larger than 2022 Influx of users. New users come in huge waves. Many of them also seem to genuinely like Mastodon according to the feedback. In 2022 many tried, soon gave up and left to Bluesky or back to X. Today, many have even deleted their commercial accounts and settled here.
I like this new development of things. Seeing new faces and more cat photos bring me so much joy. Thanks for being here. Remember that you matter.
