Mastodon may not be as big as some other social networks. And it may not have as many celebrities & "influencers."

But it sure is a nice place to engage with curious, thoughtful & interesting folks in ways that I haven't experienced elsewhere online.

Rather than a chaotic circus, #Mastodon uniquely feels like a (mostly) friendly neighborhood.

Folks on Mastodon, to hide the current deluge of spam:

1. Settings -> Filters
2. Add new filter
3. Add a title (e.g., Spam)
4. Select all the context checkboxes
5. Set Filter Action to Hide Completely
6. Add the following keyword with a hash (#) before it: 診断メーカー

Just wanted to point out, with the ongoing #spam attack on #fediverse / #misskey / #mastodon, this kind of happens on every social network. The only reason you are hearing about it is because #moderation #staff is normal users who use the normal channels to talk about it, and we actually take it way more seriously than the corporate social networks do.

Like, this represents most of the traffic on #Twitter, and they don't seem to care, so it speaks volumes about the fact that you can see us talking about how we don't want that here.

If I had the money, I'd match every VC investment in #bluesky with one to #mastodon. Make it a fair fight.

And I'd probably also pay some people to clone bluesky but run it on #ActivityPub and call it Twitter since he says that's not the name anymore.

#Fedilab is now ready for the new #Mastodon quote feature.
We opened an issue so accounts can manage the default policy for quotes in their profile and Mastodon devs already added it.

In this process, our main issue was to keep the compatibility of the quote feature that was previously implemented for others software (as they work differently - no policy). Fedilab will be able to detect and support both of them.

So I can see a users posts with replies (e.g. https://cosocial.ca/@maj/with_replies ) is there an option for seeing *just* posts from the user _without_ boosts? I.e. just the things they have written?

I imagine a workaround where you tag your own things and then have a pinned post linking to that (like I do with https://cosocial.ca/@maj/tagged/work)

Does mastodon have any concept of "follow a post"? Sometimes someone asks a good question and I want to get notifications for its responses the same as if I had posted it.

Slack, as an example, has "get notified of new replies" for threads.

This would be a big boost for "usefulness" of mastodon for me.

I think the only #Fediverse apps that could comply with age verification laws (as they have the tools available) are #Threads & #WordPress (I believe commercial plugins are available for the latter).

Age verification tech is best handled by experienced third-party apps (for security reasons), but #Mississippi does not understand the risk & cost factors for complying with their law.
