"On the very first days of 2025, four Avá-Guarani were shot during and armed attack against their community in the Indigenous Land Tekoha Guasu Guavirá, an area in process of state recognition under intense conflict in the state of Paraná. One of the victims, shot in the spine, lost the movements of his legs. In March, a Pataxó man named Vitor Braz was murdered in the Indigenous Land Barra Velha do Monte Pascoal, in the state of Bahia, amongst the Pataxós’ struggle for the demarcation of their lands. In November, Vicente Fernandes, a Guarani Kaiowá, was also assassinated in Tekoha Pyelito Kue, in the Indigenous Lands Iguatemipegua I, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, also in a context of territorial conflicts."
