In amusement parks, I see kids of all ages, nationalities, and religions enjoying themselves together. They become friends and share moments of joy. Meanwhile, I read about wars and attacks, hatred and intolerance, and I can’t help but wonder: how wonderful would it be if we spent money on amusement parks to bring young people together instead of missiles to kill each other?

Children bubble.

There is a vivacity about their being that brings a spring to their step, a bounce to their hop, an ebullience and sparkle to pretty much every movement they make.

They play with joy, discover with wonder, live with innocence and rapture.

Buttercups have a strong resonance with me. They have been a constant presence in my summers. They were held under my chin to see the yellow glow that heralded my love of butter. They were paired with daisies in a now forgotten song. I know what they taste like; as a child I put everything in my mouth.

This scene near us is a field of joy. Arresting and magnificent they make me smile; actually they made me glow internally and it burst out as a short, sunny laugh
