I'm a #GenX techie who's lived in #Boston since the late 80's.
My 15 minutes of fame were being fired by #DOGE from #USDS early in 2025 and sounding the alarm in every media outlet that'd listen since nobody else was doing it. I'm not a fan of limelight, so I stopped when others took up the baton.
My politics are aggressively progressive and antifascist, and I post about them a lot.

I’m safe to be around in the Fediverse, regardless of your ethnicity, gender identity, age, whatever. You be you; that’s important.
Self-employed since 2003. I do remote English-speaking tech support for small business and residential clients. “Your personal Help Desk.” I do a lot of tech support for the elderly. It’s still a small percentage of my total revenue, but it’s worth mentioning here. If you have an aging relative and don’t have time to take care of their technology questions, I’m happy to help. I charge by the quarter hour, and a lot of problems can be taken care of pretty quickly.

Taught college courses in IT, cybersecurity, telecom, and wireless engineering evenings and weekends for 17 years in addition to working during the day. I still occasionally teach technology to engineers and technicians at companies around the USA.
Sometimes companies need an outside expert, not a full-time hire, with deep knowledge and experience for a few hours or a week to get their internal team pointed in the right direction. Most of it can be done remotely, but I also fly to your location. If you’re not in the greater Seattle area, having me come on site will cost a minimum of $6k/day. And yes, companies really do pay me that.
Mostly I toot about the same things I do for money: information technology, cybersecurity (infrastructure, policy, training – not coding), wireless systems, and telecommunications.
I’m not here for politics, and no, I’m not flirting with you. Let’s just enjoy technology and humor about technology together.

Am I supposed to introduce myself and #introduction ?..I confess I have never known how to use the social internet properly and the Fediverse confuses me a bit, but I feel strongly in the need to carve out alternative social spaces on the Internet. So excuse any social faux pas on my part. I am an educator and musician in New Zealand with a passion for writing complaint letters, bringing the social sciences into everything and dreaming of a world where we radically take care of each other.
Time for a fresh #Introduction post. Been 18 months since the last one.
I'm Cait, late 50s, GenX, transitioned at 26 in 1992. I used to translate (not interpret) French, German, and Russian to English, for 23 years. I'm now retired due to disability (I use a cane for mobility), and my primary occupation is activism for the queer community.
I am comfortable (to a greater or lesser degree) conversing in French, German, Russian, or Spanish (in decreasing order of ability to speak well), and I can converse in basic Japanese too.
I am autistic and have ADHD, making me neurospicy to a degree that makes my white ass somewhat uncomfortable, just because of the word spicy.
I don't identify as having been an egg; my trans is more of a bulb, sending up shoots repeatedly to try and blossom, only to be cut down again and again. I always knew, as far back as I have memory, that I was a girl. I was genuinely confused why other people couldn't see it. I believe gatekeeping is fundamentally immoral, and should be resisted.
I post a lot about trans stuff, and some about political stuff. I support radical bodily autonomy, police and prison abolition, Marxist mutual aid, and anti-racism.
I do not maintain my passing privilege, so that I can be a visible trans person in my safe community, so that people know we live among them, and we're just ordinary, green-haired, tattooed, anime-loving, weed-smoking senior citizens like anyone else.
I have an abiding love for football (:soccer: ), Tottenham, music from Jamaica, and being part of the trans and autistic communities.

Mike. Live in the Seattle area having grown up in the UK as a full blown British. Have a wife (incredible), child (boy), and three dogs (golden retriver/cream retriver/fuck knows).
I work in information security, something I have done for about 20 years. By day I run corporate security, enterprise IT and various other bits and pieces for an EV charging startup. I am big into EV's and currently drive one that is not a Tesla. I want an electric motorbike, so if anyone has a spare one please send it.

I am a big aviation nerd. I always wanted to be a commercial pilot. I gained my private pilots license in the UK at 17, all self funded by my employment at the local Safeway/Morrisons store. I did the sim test and commercial assessments, but for some reason, at 18, I was unable to find the £100k needed to complete the commercial training, so I did computers. I play guitar and am a big guitar/audio nerd as well. I record music under the moniker Operation: Anxiety, https://operationanxiety.com - the music is on all the normal places.
Finally, I am a massive fan of motorsport. I believe I have watched every F1 race for the last 30 years, maybe 25. I also follow F2, FE, Indycar and MotoGP closely. I average around 18 hours of Le Mans 24 hour racing watching per year.
