It's #SeptemBee! To start I have Bombus lapidarius, the red tailed bumblebee; the Germans call it Steinhummel. These prolific pollinators can be found throughout central Europe, but may be easily confused with other red-butted bees. Due to differences in pheromone composition, some scientists consider the populations found in southern Italy to be a unique species (B. bisiculus).
