Svínafellsjökull glacier lagoon in Iceland. The clouds hung low over the glacier and a series of small icebergs had floated into a line reflecting in the brown water. Although near the main ring road, no one was there.

Seljalandsfoss is a well known waterfall located on the South Coast of Iceland, because it's one of those waterfalls that you can walk behind and get soaking wet. The waterfall drops from a height of 60 meters and is surrounded by cliffs, greenery and tour buses. #waterfallwednesday #waterfall #iceland

Svalbarðseyri Lighthouse (Svalbarðseyrarviti) in North Iceland might not be one of the most majestic lighthouses in Iceland but it is certainly one of the cutest that I've been to.

A narrow, dark cavern with a small waterfall flowing into a pool. Green moss covers the rocky walls of the opening through which it is flowing. Above the light illuminates large moss covered rocks I stripes, visually leading to the waterfall. The rest is dark.

River Curves

A storm forecast, our flight cancelled. If it hadn't been, we would never have seen this serene scene.

Following the swift river upstream, we paused where the early light kissing the clouds was reflected in the icy waters.

Facing south; dawn at 10:30am in mid-November over Núpufellshnjúkur in Eyjafjarðarsveit, north-eastern #Iceland.

The image is made out of 49 columns, each column contains just a part of each photo, making up a single picture of a view of some small houses, trees, the sea and the mountain far in the background. Half of the photo is taken by the sky. The first column (on the left) contains a photo that was taken at midnight, and the sky is in a light-blue to gentle yellow gradient of a setting sun. The next photo in the next column was taken at 00:30, next one at 1:00 and so on. In the middle of the image the weather gets very cloudy and even rainy, and so the blue sky changes to grey. Image ends with a photo taken at 00:00 the next day.

The Volcano, The Elf Rock And The Rainbow

On a clear day such as this one in late October the view from Dyrhólaey is astonishing.

In the distance is Eyjafjallajökull, the volcano which disrupted air traffic for a week in 2010.
The steep-sided mountain is Pétursey; good elves live on one side and evil elves are on the other. Be quiet and respectful near their home and they will leave you in peace.

And the rainbow? Just serendipity!
