Rock Crk. Canyon check-up run 2200-2350m run today showed quite a bit of melt over the last week. Not skiable until 3K in, where it is more wind sheltered/shaded. Snowpack was ripening, soft had to turn back just 5K in. Mild of course 7C but at least not windy, always a plus in here. Forecast modeling keeps trying to bring cold NW flow troughs in days 8+ over. There is snow and good skiing to be had almost 2 hrs WSW of here. US-212 just W of Chief Joseph Biway intersection is closed at 2105m. 25-30cm hardpack on the road at start. We got up to just near Colter Pass, above Cooke City. 1m snowpack our 2500m turnaround. This moister side of Beartooth Plateau complex, W-SW flow provides there 👍🏽. Unlike further E along Beartooth Front. No moose getting windy 2-5C. Made most of weather window. #climate #skiing #dogs #wyoming #gye
