A new documentary at Sundance Film Festival shows a community coming together to stop immigration officials snatching their neighbors. But it wasn't shot in Minneapolis or Chicago. "Everybody To Kenmure Street" tells the story of a "dawn raid" in Pollokshields, Glasgow, in May 2021, where Home Office agents attempted to detain two Indian Sikhs who had been in the country for a decade. The Oscars are a popularity contest. The preferred oscar winner is slightly above average artsy junk. For years that never winning an oscar is what save Scorsese from mediocrity, but as he got older the quality of his work declined enough to win an oscar.

Wondering aloud.... there are a lot of sites to help indie authors market and sell their books, like BookBub and BookSirens, but what of film? Are there such platforms as well? Those I can find are crowdfund sites like kickstarter, which a lot of us are excluded from.

Perhaps someone should make one, for I'm sure a lot of people would love to just get films direct from the filmmaker rather than having to rely on the likes of Netflix and film festivals.

Tom Kane, the prolific voice actor whose body of work included popular turns as Yoda on “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and as Prof. Utonium on “The Powerpuff Girls,” died Monday at age 64. Kane suffered a stroke in 2020 that left him unable to speak or write and retired from acting thereafter.
