Our weakness is: we&#x27;re decentralized. How do we find like instances and things WITHOUT an algorithm?</p><p>Well I run <a href="http://tubefree.org." rel="nofollow">tubefree.org.</a> I know <a href="http://Makertube.net" rel="nofollow">Makertube.net</a> is a good instance. I follow that instance. However, I trust the admins there, why not follow who they follow? Thus we have a chain of trust.</p><p>How do I do this easily though? <p>Big news for Mastodon GmbH. They have formally joined forces with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).</p><p>If you’re not in the design/tech world, trust me when I say this is a big step for the fediverse. I always enjoy seeing these public discussions about what the fediverse can and should be.<br><br>Sure there’s a lot to improve, but the social problem of “how should humans behave in a group” is a permanent one.<br><br>Voice is a sign of a healthy community and loyalty. I’ll be worried when i stop reading people argue passionately for what the fediverse should be, because it’s a sign that its members have lost faith in it and would rather exit.<br><br>We’re here voluntarily, with different goals, needs, and expectations. There’s going to be wildly different ideas about what this should look like, and it’ll continue to churn at its edges as long as it exists.<br><br>Defederation is such a powerful tool: we are free to choose who we don’t want to interact with. Us. Not a for profit, not a government, us the members of each server or league of servers. That’s the shape of community.<br><br>The ban, filter and mute are important but individual.
