I updated my new #film, The Night Dancer, with cc for the hearing impaired (I doubt it's perfect, but hope it helps) but being on the #fediverse and experiencing alt text made me think that people with visual impairments would love to enjoy my films. It's quite a challenge to put alt-text on a short film, so I ended up writing it like a short story. I'll maybe try to make time to do an audio-book-imitation of the film instead! And of all my films.

Took a first look at #NeoDB (neodb-social, to be precise), a platform to track or review media you consume - books, games, movies, podcasts... It's interesting. But I'm also worried that the data will be a total mess - how does NeoDB ensure that a translation of a book that I want to add is linked to its original or other editions/translations? Searching for a book I get multiple results of various editions of the same work, crowding the search result. 1/3

This would be noteworthy on its own if there weren't already a bunch of non-Mastodon implementations, but I'm actually late to the party. WordPress, Bonfire, micro.blog, dotmakeup, and ActivityBot all got there before I did.

You responded, with ideas, suggestions, and an education on American geography. Now, we've federated 64 publications. Here's a blogpost with more details, plus a spreadsheet with a list of all the federated profiles, which include everyone from @AlaskaBeacon to @SunSentinel. If you spy a profile you like, search for it in the fediverse and you should see all its Magazines (topical feeds). Follow the profile to see everything in your feed, or just Magazines if you're only interested in, for example, South Florida Sports (@south-florida-sports-SunSentinel) or Texas Barbecue (@texas-bbq-TexasMonthly).
