We are seeing a nice uptick in Brazilian #fediverse instances enabling #xmpp for their members. They even gave it a funny new nickname: #Xampu (Shampoo in English, but it kinda sounds like you could pronounce XMPP in Brazilian Portuguese).

We are sick and tired of hearing "where is Joe Rogan of the left? Why don't we have #progressive content on TikTok and Insta so Gen-Z can see it?"

We do. There's a ton of them. They reach hundreds to millions of people.

The real issue, is that social media algorithms promote what is popular. And what's popular is garbage. And conservatives are great at making garbage.

Until we crack down on biased algorithms, non-Conservative content will always be sidelined.

Viele verlassen angeblich #X, aber sie kommen nicht ins #Fediverse sondern wechseln zu #bluesky, eine Art Twitter ohne Nazis. Ob sich dieser Traum erfüllt, ist die eine Frage. Ich finde diese Entwicklung gar nicht so schlimm. Leute, die das Gleiche wie Twitter wollen, werden im Fediversum nicht heimisch werden.

Well I just started doing some research and reading about #technofeudalism … and fell down a fascinating and haunting rabbit hole.

“Technofeudalism” is officially my word of the year, if not the decade (century, possibly). I wish more people were aware of it.

The #Fediverse feels more and more like a safe haven for me. And in the bleakness of our current political and technological situation, I’m comforted by the fact I’m currently self-hosting essential services (thank you @yunohost ).

TL;DR: I’m super grateful for the existence of the #Fediverse and the fact I’ve learned how to self-host – two amazing ways to resist technofeudalism.

We're thrilled to announce Fedify 1.8.1, a mega release made possible through the incredible efforts of contributors from South Korea's #OSSCA (Open Source Contribution Academy). This release marks a significant milestone in #Fedify's development, bringing major architectural changes, new packages, and numerous enhancements across the board.

Note: Version 1.8.0 was skipped due to a versioning error.

🎉 Major Milestone: Monorepo Architecture

Fedify has been restructured as a #monorepo, consolidating all packages into a single repository with unified versioning. This change streamlines development and ensures all packages are released together with consistent version numbers.

Consolidated Packages

All existing Fedify packages now live under one roof:

@fedify/cli — CLI toolchain
@fedify/amqp — AMQP/RabbitMQ driver
@fedify/express — Express integration

Updating from Previous Versions

If you're using separate Fedify packages, update all packages to version 1.8.1:

All packages now share the same version number, simplifying dependency management.

Breaking Changes
