I'm trying desperately to avoid incurring late fees and undue attention from the leasing office. Moreso the latter than the former, if I'm being honest because we loathe "rocking the boat" and attracting scrutiny.</p><p>We have received a couple of <a href="/tags/gofundme/" rel="tag">#gofundme</a> donations in response to my previous post which we sincererly appreciate and can definitely use to compensate for my hours at work having dipped now that we're past the holiday season, but sadly we won't see the funds for several days so I can't count them towards our running total (unless we don't make deadline. Going late would also burn most if not all the funds from those donations in rental late fees which would really suck).</p><p>Please forgive me yet again for the constant <a href="/tags/mutualaid/" rel="tag">#MutualAid</a> posts. I know it's getting very, very, very old. I want to say "I shouldn't have let things get this far", but the reality is, it's complicated; I tried to do everything I could. I don't really have the mental and emotional stamina to work multiple jobs -- everyone says, "You'll just get used to it", but I literally start to have emotional breakdowns and mental glitches when I try to work that much, and my <a href="/tags/bpd/" rel="tag">#BPD</a> becomes almost unmanageable -- and my partner was struggling so badly with his <a href="/tags/ptsd/" rel="tag">#PTSD</a> trauma.</p><p>I don't want to be a burden to the community anymore, and I promise you we're working as hard as we can to achieve that. But we're not quite there yet. We adore this apartment and don't want to do anything to jeopardize it.</p><p>As an additional incentive for donating, I'm including a pic I took this morning from our balcony. If you donate or boost, you can look at it and vicariously enjoy the view that my partner and I have enjoyed for the past month and a half only because of the generosity of the fine folks of the <a href="/tags/fediverse/" rel="tag">#Fediverse</a>. If you see an account posting or spamming Telegram links, report it. Many of the accounts are impersonating news outlets — check verification status, the account's follower count, or the outlet's website to confirm if the account is real or fake.</p><p>2. Donate to your local mods if you can, or at least give them a big virtual hug and say thanks. <p>BIG PEERTUBE CO-OP UPDATE:</p><p>Last night, I interviewed the final steering committee candidate.</p><p>And just like that—it’s official. We now have seven incredible people (plus me) who’ve come together to co-organize this co-op.</p><p>Every single person brings something unique—skills, experience, heart—and it honestly feels like we’re assembling a dream team.</p><p>This moment is a turning point. We’re no longer just talking about starting a co-op. We are one in the making. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be shaping our mission, vision, and bylaws—the foundation for what will eventually become a fully incorporated BC co-operative.</p><p>It’s wild to think how far this idea has come in just two weeks. <p>A fun chart.</p><p>For the numbers that are used for this graph, I grabbed the post count and known instances count from this <a href="https://mookiesplace.com/api/v1/instance" rel="nofollow">endpoint</a> on my <a href="/tags/gotosocial/" rel="tag">#GoToSocial</a> instance via a daily cron job. I have been doing this since I brought up <a href="https://mookiesplace.com" rel="nofollow"><span class="invisible">https://</span>mookiesplace.com</a> -- I did this for my previous instances too, but never posted about it.</p><p>It's fun to see how my instance federates over time and to see how much I post over time. There are a few significant bumps in known instances, those happened when I posted something that got boosted / liked a bunch over a short period of time (ie. after I catch the eye of <span class="h-card"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@lisamelton" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>lisamelton</span></a></span>).</p><p>My instance is knows about 60% of the <a href="/tags/fediverse/" rel="tag">#Fediverse</a>.</p>
<p>I wrote about how Patreon needs to join the <a href="/tags/fediverse/" rel="tag">#Fediverse</a>:</p><p>"Why would a creator send their audience to a third-party platform when Instagram and Threads can be a one-stop-shop with their existing followers while having access to new paid subscribers across the social web?</p><p>Patreon can no longer just be the place where creators are paid, it needs to be a place where creators can be discovered. <p>Interesting development for <a href="/tags/scholarlycommunication/" rel="tag">#ScholarlyCommunication</a> in the <a href="/tags/fediverse/" rel="tag">#Fediverse</a>! </p><p>I'm testing <span class="h-card"><a href="https://fietkau.social/@encyclia" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>encyclia</span></a></span>, a tool that connects the Fediverse and <a href="/tags/orcid/" rel="tag">#ORCID</a>, making ORCID records followable.</p><p>Follow my ORCID <span class="h-card"><a href="https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6021-3695" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>0000-0002-6021-3695</span></a></span> and new publications automatically appear in your timeline. </p><p>It's an alpha version with still some hiccups, but this looks cool. <p>Posted on the <a href="/tags/blog/" rel="tag">#blog</a>:</p><p>It’s cool that <a href="/tags/mastodon/" rel="tag">#Mastodon</a> is intentionally working on technical design concepts for <a href="/tags/fediverse/" rel="tag">#Fediverse</a> “starter packs” and seeking user feedback. 👏</p><p>I have a very specific opinion about this, so I emailed the following to their feedback address. <p>Yay! My <a href="/tags/mastodon/" rel="tag">#Mastodon</a> trifecta is now complete! My blue & orange (is it orange‽) <a href="/tags/plushtodon/" rel="tag">#Plushtodon</a> came in last night, & I opened it yesterday, but I was too tired to post about it as I just got off work. </p><p>But yes, I am excited that the two smaller Plushes arrived! Thanks <span class="h-card"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@Mastodon" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>Mastodon</span></a></span> for creating these!</p><p>Also…we need more <a href="/tags/activitypub/" rel="tag">#ActivityPub</a> apps to create real world wearables or plushies, as they are great conversation starters for folks who are not familiar with the <a href="/tags/fediverse/" rel="tag">#Fediverse</a>.</p>
