resistance. Just one of many notions this gifted thinker had about
how things should be done. But it hadn’t evolved into hunger strikes
or protests. Instead, the non-violent part only meant that his escape
should bother no one else. Not even the guards.

Years ago, my Mother-in-law began reading, "The Exorcist". She said it was the most evil book she ever read. So evil in fact, she couldn't finish it, took it over to the beach and threw it into the ocean off a fishing pier.

| went and bought another copy, ran the faucet over it and left it in the night table drawer by her bed. My Father-in-law said that night was the first time she ever screamed and fainted.

Honestly, when I read the first chapter, I was like...
What the heck am I reading?
I thought that the writing was going to just be random philosophical nonsense. And for the first couple of paragraphs, that was what I recieved.
But then...
Herschel being a prisoner in a far off fantasty world really got to me. It seemed just an interesting premise, and seeing him give his satrical thoughts and ideas are just very entertaining to read.
The grammar, plot, and story are all greatly done as well.
Overall, this is a great story that I would recommend to other new readers.

I started reading book one in the Rivers of London series but then I realised there were prequels.

Now I just finished The Masquerades of Spring, and I'm glad I did as the main character reminded me a bit of Bertie Wooster from P. G. Wodehouse's Jeeves and Wooster 😁
