Electrify America at Plymouth … one charger is down shown in the app… and one more shows available but actually down (won’t activate) and the 350kw that I waited 10 mins for is reduced to about 170kw
I’m glad my car tells me the charging power is limited by the charging station……

Wonderful FLO Ultra charger in Montpelier VT!
Full house when we arrived, but only waited 1 minute before the Rivian finished and left.
Very snappy and responsive touchscreen. FLO RFID card payment went through very smoothly and quickly. And it started charging in no time.
Maximum 160kw though. But the spec of the charger says it can support 320kw if only 1 car is charging and it is dynamically power shared between the two plugs. But I’m not sure if it’s the case at this one.
Beautiful view with mountains and VT state house in the background. Close to downtown and many options for food, coffee and shopping. Also right next to a grocery store.

Enel, Italy's largest electricity supplier, launches its #EV #SmartCharging programme in Italy 🇮🇹.
Users of Enel's home charger can sign up for different (regional) flexibility programmes. The EV will always charge according to the user's prefs.
How do you extinguish an #EV battery fire? Renault developed and patented an extinguishing vent years ago: by extinguishing directly into the battery casing an apparently very effective method. Renault is now opening the patent for further development.

⛓️💥 Géén E2EE
Bij zeer veel websites (https://pvv.nl is een voorbeeld) is er sprake van twee *verschillende* verbindingen, dus beslist geen E2EE = End-to-End-Encryption (voor zover dat überhaupt nog wat zegt als de "echte" een cloud-server van Google, Microsoft of Amazon is).
🕋 CDN's
Cloudflare, een CDN (Content Delivery Network), heeft een wereldomspannend netwerk met "tunnel"-servers in computercentra van de meeste internetproviders. Waarschijnlijk ook bij u "om de hoek".
🔥 DDoS-aanvallen
Dat is werkt uitstekend tegen DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) aanvallen. Ook zorgen CDN's voor veel snellere communicatie (mede doordat plaatjes e.d. op een web van servers "gecached" worden) - ook als de "echte" server aan de andere kant van de wereld staan.
🚨 Nadelen
Maar dit is NIET zonder prijs! Cloudflare kan namelijk *meekijken* in zeer veel "versleuteld" netwerkverkeer (en dat zelfs, desgewenst, wijzigen).
🚦 Nee, niet *u*
Ook kunnen Cloudflare-klanten allerlei regels instellen waar bezoekers aan moeten voldoen, en hen als "ongewenst" bezoek blokkeren (ook *criminele* klanten maken veelvuldig gebruik van deze mogelijkheid, o.a. om te voorkómen dat de makers van virusscanners nepwebsites op kwaadaardige inhoud kunnen checken).
Aanvulling 14:39: { zo kan ik, met Firefox Focus onder Android, https://cidi.nl *niet* openen, ik zie dan een pagina waarin o.a. staat "Even geduld, de website van Centrum Informatie en Documentatie Israël (CIDI) is aan het verifiëren of de verbinding veilig is. Please unblock challenges.cloudflare.com to proceed."

😎 Men In Black
Omdat Cloudflare een (tevens) in de VS gevestigd bedrijf is, moeten zij voldoen aan de Amerikaanse FISA section 702 wetgeving. Dat betekent dat hen opgedragen kan worden om internetverkeer te monitoren, en zij daar een zwijgplicht over hebben. Terwijl Amerikanen al minder privacy-rechten hebben dan Europeanen, hebben *niet*-Amerikanen *nul* privacyrechten volgens genoemde FISA wet.

Dat https-verbindingen via Cloudflare niet E2EE zijn, blijkt uit onderstaand plaatje (dat vast méér mensen wel eens gezien hebben).
📜 Certificaten en foutmeldingen
Dat plaatje kan, zonder certificaatfoutmeldingen, ALLEEN bestaan als Cloudflare een geldig authenticerend website-certificaat (een soort paspoort) heeft voor, in dit geval, https://bleepingcomputer.com - en dat hébben ze. Voor MILJOENEN websites.
🛃 MitM
Cloudflare (maar ook anderen, zoals Fastly) zijn een MitM (Man in the Middle).
🤔 De tweede verbinding?
Uw browser heeft, grotendeels transparant, een E2EE-verbinding met een Cloudflare server. U heeft géén idee wat voor soort verbinding Cloudflare met de werkelijke website heeft (is dat überhaupt https, en een veilige variant daarvan? Wat doet Cloudflare als het certificaat van de website verlopen is? Etc).

En zodra een MitM kwaadaardig wordt, noemen we het een AitM (A van Attacker of Adversary).
🗽 Trump
Als Trump Cloudflare opdraagt om geen diensten meer aan NL of EU te leveren, werkt hier HELEMAAL NIETS MEER en dondert onze economie als een kaartenhuis in elkaar.
🃏 DV-certs
Dat Cloudflare een website-certificaat voor bijvoorbeeld https://vvd.nl of https://cidi.nl heeft verkregen, zou vreemd moeten zijn. Dit is echter een peuleschil "dankzij" DV (Domain Validated) certificaten (het lievelingetje van Google) die het internet steeds onveiliger maken en waar ook onze overheid "voor gevallen is" (zie https://infosec.exchange/@ErikvanStraten/114032329847123742).
😱 Nepwebsites
Maar dit is nog niet alles: steeds meer criminele nepwebsites *verstoppen* zich achter Cloudflare, waar zijzelf (crimineel) geld aan verdient. Needed to make a quick charging stop in Eastham because I forgot to charge to 100% before leaving for Provincetown, and the extra drag from the bike rack made the efficiency worse. Obviously the bike design is not optimized for the aerodynamic when it's sideways 😜
I could charge near Ptown long enough so I can make it home, but 1) Ptown's DC charger is a Tesla supercharger, as much as I don't want give money to Musk, it is also not 800V output, meaning the Taycan only takes around 140-150kw, which is not so much different from the 120kw I can get from this ChargePoint. 2) as I don't drive much, I need to take advantage of the Electrify America free charging when I have the opportunity.
So a quick 9 mins charge from 11% to 22% and we got on the way to the Electrify America in Hyannis. Arrived with 13% SoC and got the free juice to 85%.

Recent EV charging drama...
We spontaneously decided to go antiquing in Worcester which is about 1 hour away. With 30% SoC we'd just be able to make it home with 0% but I didn't want to risk that. So I decided to charge around Worcester on the way back.
First choice is EA in Northborough, since it's free for me. It has an 85% charge limit, so turnover should be fast. However there were 3 cars waiting when we arrived. I didn't want to wait, and Josh found a Ford Charger across the street at a dealer. I haven't used a Ford one before, so we decided to give it a try.
We saw one right away in front of the building, but it was turned off. I looked around and noticed another one across the parking lot, but it turned out to be an outdated charger which was also turned off, and at a Lincoln dealer. As we were super disappointed and leaving, I saw one at the back of the service department and it was on! It only accepts payment through Ford Charge (when you have a Ford EV) or Shell app. I haven't used the shell app for so long that I had to reset my password... But eventually everything worked fine. Reached 224kw in no time, which is not bad for a 240kw charger. We only charged for 8 mins to get us home. It's actually cheaper than the EA too.
And loved that it gave stats for Nerds!!
