Dear Friends of #Linux hopping,
1) I am as usual, using #EasyOS...
Excalibur64 version 7.4.10 if you must know, There also is a Release Candidate available for the intrepid exploring tester.
2) The code base is from Devuan (Debian)
I found info from the EasyOS GUI, the included 'PupSysInfo'
Under Sys-Specs and Distro Specs
3) EasyOS includes many Puppy Linux programs. As it is the cutting edge, rolling version from Barry #Kauler who also created EasyOS
4) On first #boot one can can choose to add a password that encrypts your usage. I chose to do this on the #Desktop computer and also the 'laptop I use but it is not essential as EasyOS, like Puppy, is designed for a #single user, not a network. Yep, straight in IS Secure enough for many users. Me included but for once I have used a boot up password. Why not? I am used to a cyberverse FULL to the brim with everything using two factor authentication and worse...
5) #Containerisation is built in
A one button update is available
6) A variety of browsers are included or can be downloaded from the menus. I downloaded the latest Vivaldi. Seamonkey is available. A containerised 'De-Googled' Chrome. Netsurf browser, if you click 'Help' from the menus (mouse right click)
I am very familiar with Puppy Linux, so it is very easy for me to use. I have been using Puppy well before version 1 BUT am relatively new to EasyOS. Slowly becoming used to its new or updated Puppy programs and specific code updates from Barry.
Barry is currently touring Oz (Australia) in his car and using a tent based Office and solar power and reflecting on his lifes work and meaning.
