Having a dog with a HUGE head means accepting that he can and will easily change the channel on the remote with one movement, scroll your phone and/or accidentally call someone with his face, and knock your side tables around spilling your coffee just to retrieve a tennis ball. A morning in the life of Summer.
We are all little bit off our game today.
I found that a large jug of liquid laundry detergent had sprung a leak in the laundry room.
What a mess.
Could have been worse.
At least it only spilled about a half gallon of soap. Only...
I blocked the doorway with a hamper so Summer could watch but not help.
I did get a few photos of Summer before and after the laundry soap debacle.
Well.
Now on to take care of the business that I would have gotten to earlier except for the soap that got in the way.

Summer is feeling very cuddly this morning.
My husband rarely picks up my phone to take photos but he thought she was looking pretty cute.
She slept on my lap for an hour while I massaged her back.
We are totally relaxed to start our Saturday.

Time for a Summer brag.
My husband, Summer's most favorite person in the whole world, decided he should get up from his recliner and move around a bit.
He looked for his slippers which weren't where they belong.
All of the sudden I see the lightbulb go on as he remembers that he left them sitting next to his bed.
He looks at Summer and asks her to find his slippers.
She looks where they should be hesitated for a minute and then ran up the stairs to bring them down to him one at a time.
Summer would do anything for him and apparently has taken on the job of wardrobe manager.
They are too sweet together.

Summer and I were surprised to find our usual trailhead gated and locked this morning. Hopefully just a temporary closure.
So what to do?
We discussed our options and decided to check out one of the trails to Humboldt Bay.
Summer is always up for an adventure so we turned around and were off.
There was drizzle, sand, mud and giant puddles.
Summer says we made a good choice.
She is a happy dog who really needs a bath.

📷 Met Gracie over the backyard fence a few minutes ago. They're from Tennessee, and are here with their human, my neighbor Miss Jan's nephew.
Gracie is a mix of Maltese, Bichon and Shih Tzu, aka a "Teddy Bear!" ❤️
Our day started with doctor appointments. Not unusual for us.
My husband has so many medical providers it's hard to keep up. He counts on me to help keep track. It seems we missed some required tests. We try.
I had to ask the provider about his prescriptions for ostomy supplies. He was surprised to find out that we haven't been getting regular deliveries from the VA. I didn't want to worry him so I had kept the problem to myself. I stocked up shortly after the election, so we aren't running out yet. I bought them out of pocket because I was wary of tarrifs. Right now, the VA has us on backorder until the end of October.
He was really upset.
I explained again that we will be fine, but he is worried for every other veteran who might have to do without essential supplies.
He was so unsettled I talked him into a short walk and change of scenery.
Summer cheered him up but he still worries. Me too.

#Today is a #sad day. I had to let my little friend go, after 13 years together. I got the little guy when I was but a teen🐕
He had health issues his whole life, but so far we could keep him stable and pain free. This weekend he suddenly worsened so we called the vet. His issues caught up, it wouldn't possible to get him happy and healthy. For his sake we let him go
We named our robo vacuum after him, so we can still call him to clean up crumbles
He will be missed
