Summer and I have been cleaning non stop since dawn. We've vacuumed, mopped, steam cleaned her pal's recliner, washed rugs, cleaned the refrigerator and started reorganizing the mess in our garage.
She finally said enough.
It seems that as a card carrying member of the Very Good Dog Union she is entitled to a periodic rest and cuddle break. Her pal was ready to accommodate. I just have to go along so I took a break too.
My husband has been feeling well enough to move around to stay out of the way. It feels good to feel good so he tells us.
Hope all of our Mastodon friends are having a spectacular Saturday.

Pour #adoption : Quand le refuge SPA a été évacué à cause des feux de #Gironde, j'ai pris ce #BorderCollie en famille d'accueil. Il a ses habitudes chez moi, on sort 3x par jour, il fait des câlins sans arrêt, il respecte bien les interdits, il est sage en mon absence ... Je dois maintenant le ramener au refuge, mais il va déprimer en box, et je ne me sens pas prêt à adopter un chien pour la vie. J'en dors plus la nuit 😭 Qq'un veut adopter cet adorable chien proche #Bordeaux ? #dogsofmastodon

À Budapest et en Hongrie de manière plus générale il y a beaucoup plus de points d'eau potable qu'en France. On en trouve dans tous les villages et ils sont assez bien référencés sur OSM.
Parfois ils sont aussi pensés pour nos compagnons à 4 pattes. Et beaucoup de cafés et restaurants ont une gamelle remplie d'eau devant leur porte.

Juliette died last night. She was 13.

In June I posted a photo of her in a yellow unicorn party hat and called it her "second" birthday. A year before that I had spent a weekend doing some kind of CPR on her and writing her heart rate down every 30 minutes, certain she would not see Monday.

She saw fourteen more months. She walked, she ate, she ran around the flat like nothing had happened.

Thank you to everyone who wrote something kind under it. I went back and read all of it again today.

This photo is from a boat on Lake Lucerne. A third of her life she spent here in Switzerland, and on every walk it was obvious who was walking whom.

She always got her way. She never backed down from anything, not once, not until yesterday.

Even more finally, this is Dora (fka Pandora), current foster and another dog I worked with at the shelter. She's been with us 18 months, only recently becoming more comfortable in certain ways. She obviously thinks she's home, and that may end up being true.

Wife still says, "Dogs everywhere."

Work commenced on our deck early.
We will have nice wide steps with a strong rail. They offered to put in a slide but I don't think I want to temp Summer or my husband.
While they were building I was the demolition team taking the boards off of the old deck walls and pulling nails. Pry bars are handy tools even if they laugh at me throwing all my weight into the task.
Summer helped me load up some cardboard to recycle and a few bags of groceries for the free pantry.
I will drop stuff off on my way to pick up pizza for today's lunch party.
Getting more than three hours of sleep makes me down right perky. Who know what else we will get done today.

Summer woke up a happy dog.
Her pal slept all night so we all slept all night.
She wakes him up by giving him a soft pat with her paw. I let them cuddle for a few minutes before I told Summer we were headed to the beach.
But first we perked the coffee and took the garbage bin out to the road.
The fog is thick and the neighborhood isn't awake yet as we drive off on our adventure.
As usual we have the trail to ourselves.
I wanted to get some wildflower photos but they were all closed up waiting for the sun.
Much needed exercise for both of us.
I asked Summer what she wanted to write in the sand. She wanted to send hugs to everyone who could use one on this early Wednesday morning.

Summer is a great comfort to both of us.
She took over the other end of the sofa while we watch the Tiger's game.
I might have to turn the volume up now that Summer decided it's nap time.

Today was the day to clean up my lawn mower to be able to start it to mow Summer's front acre.
My mower is clearly worn out.
Summer thought it would help if she brought me stuff I might need to get it going.
More stuff is always better, right?
By the time I got the mower ready to mow I had a whole pile of random stuff.
She really is the most sincere helper I've ever seen.
It didn't help but I thanked her anyway.
Tomorrow my daughter is going with me to the farmers market and then to shop for a battery operated mower.
It's almost my birthday so it's time.
We will see if I can find something that I think is heavy duty enough to handle our fields.
