update 2025-05-09: i fucked up & deleted this toot because i thought the hashtags didn't work. 🫠 also, i haven't received any funds for this...... i've reduced the goal from $550 to $400 because that's probably more obtainable. please help me help my friend out if you're able to. even $5 will help. if you're not able to send funds, please boost this.

original: a good friend of mine - who needs to remain anonymous for their safety - is trying to escape their family's home because they's been abused by said family for most of their life & they've had enough. my friend came out as trans to their family a few years ago, which unfortunately made the abuse worse. 1 of their relatives that they currently live with has even made multiple death threats to their face in the past couple of years, but so far hasn't gone any further than that, thankfully.

i'll be collecting the funds for them & passing them along. we're not sure how much they'll need, but i know a couple nights' stay in a hotel is about $400, & they'll need money for food & safe transportation via a taxi or similar. my friend's got a place they can move in a couple of weeks. they just really need some time to safely rest & recuperate & organise their life before then.

i've also recommended that they change their phone number so their family can't easily contact them, which might have a fee attached, but we don't know at this stage. my friend told me that they's contacted family/domestic violence orgs & the police in the past, but none of them have helped. the fv org didn't even have a record of my friend contacting them when they tried again.

Hi everyone. I'm a disabled transgender woman and wheelchair user asking for help covering essential expenses during an incredibly (difficult) time.

I have been denied disability benefits for the third time. At the same time, my family has been facing devastating circumstances: my mother has been diagnosed with late-stage cancer, my grandmother is now in a nursing home with severe dementia, and my grandfather passed away about 8 months ago. 🕊

I am very grateful that a grant now covers my rent, but I still need help with seizure medication, transportation costs, internet service so I can stay connected and continue looking for remote work, hygeine and personal-care items, and other basic living expenses or emergencies.

Local assistance programs are overwhelmed, and I recently left a six-year relationship that ended in domestic violence. I have very little family support right now and I am doing my best to stay safe, stable, and keep my head above water while my lawyers appeal my disability. 🚍

I am actively looking for remote work, and I recently applied to return to school online for cybersecurity. 💻 I am trying hard to build a more stable future for myself. Right now, I just need a little room to breathe and the ability to get through this difficult period.📶

Yesterday marked 3 months behind on rent. We have been trying our best, and support so far has helped us not slide further behind but our landlord is getting upset with us.
We need £2,900 to break even on it. Please, any help is appreciated. We’re trying.

My partners PIP tribunal finally got a response from the government 7 weeks after the deadline and it could take “several months” for the tribunal to actually go ahead. It’ll likely be a year we’ve been fighting this before we get any result. We’re tired, stressed. Just trying to live..
