Streetartwall. This beautiful mural of a rooster was spray-painted on the outside wall of a three-story apartment building a few years ago. The rooster stands between a row of windows that are on the left side. Detailed and curved lines were used to create a proud blue and white rooster with a bushy crest and erect tail feathers, standing amidst tulip blossoms. Both the animal's body and the flowers have been drawn with fine lines, making the cockerel something special.
Info: The mural plays with two Portuguese symbols of folk art: the cockerel of Barcelos and the famous Portuguese tiles, the azulejos. The rooster heralds the sunrise and symbolizes the end of darkness and that a better day lies ahead. It also symbolizes courage and wisdom.

I just acquired the Penguin Little Black Classics Boxed set. It's truly beautiful. I'm planing to read one or two of these a week and will be making a lot of posts about these in the near future.
