I added a new visualization to my #Django #chess #webapp. Now you can see the possible black or white moves, given threats and protections. "Either-or." Previously, there was just one visualization of every square on the board and the "potential energy" of each piece. And it was hard, for beginners especially, to see your best moves.

To do this, I had to add a new key to my #Python chessboard coverage data-structure at https://pypi.org/project/chess-coverage/
Lichess had 31 people contribute code across 15 repositories in January! Check out what's changed in the updated changelog: https://lichess.org/changelog 🛠️

Be the change you want to see in the world!
Ok, I want to see more people from Mastodon playing more chess(in general)
so I'll participate in some tournaments on lichess.org and post with MastodonChess hashtag
Not gonna use (#)MastoLichess...unnecessary
1 post per tournament and that way I won't be spamming Mastodon with too many posts(says someone with 1.1k+ posts 🤦)
Goal:
play Dutch Defense(if possible) as black and play Italian Game as white.
Ju Wenjun won her fourth game in a row with her victory over Tan Zhongyi in Game 8 of the Women's World Championship! Now she only needs to draw one of the remaining four games to become a five-time World Champion.
Read our recap blog and replay the game with annotations by WGM Petra Papp.
