Said goodbye to this good boy a few weeks ago. The end was rough, so I haven't been up to sharing his passing.

Felix found us as a leggy "teen" and gave us just over 18 years of joy. He was absolutely the smartest, most interesting, coolest cat we have ever had. He is so thoroughly missed every day.

Hug your pets close.

Felix stretched out on his back in the grass with arms and legs flung out, a common pose while lounging anywhere. One of my favorite things was his obvious trust that and confidence that he was safe and could fully be the cat that he was. I hope that makes sense. My husband often held him in his arms on his back, almost upside down to give him a good head scrub and he always limp and purring.

Felix napping in the yard. As he got older, he was a full yard napper, moving with the sun and/or shade depending on the temperature.

Phoebe the cat is an almost impossibly tangled position on the stairs. Her front legs are crossed! She’s using the claws of the right front leg to hang on to the staircase as the rest of her body is upside down! She has the goofiest of expressions on her face!

My supervisor monitors my progress as I try to rescue this piece of antique lace from the nasty sticky backing paper someone put it on decades ago.

It is an impossibly delicate piece with super-fine thread.

Similar to this museum version, it is Brussels bobbin lace appliqué on a netting.

My worktable full of textile crafts and tools, with a strip of about 4 inch wide lace on an old black photo album page. The lace has a very decorated floral edge to the left, and some dotted looking sections toward the sewing edge on the right.

It is currently a beige and somewhat damaged piece, but still has lovely parts. A paper tag attached to the lace says that it is "Bruxelles appliqué fuseau bobbin" and "Gift of Mme Remy".

Next to the lace, a calico sits in loaf pose with a look of utter boredom.

A close up of the now-unstuck lace on a blue felt backing for contrast. It shows the floral edge of the lace and includes two American coins for scale. The flowers are about the size of a 10 cent silver piece.

The threads are incredibly thin, and the flower is worked with a heavier outline edge. There are also tiny picot decorations on the outside edge.

There are coin-sized flowers on the edge and smaller ones as you go up, as well as some leaves and vine details. Some of this seems to be embroidered on the netting and some additional needle lace details.

Another close up of the flowers to see the details. I cannot express how thin this thread is, but was woven with bobbins by some woman in the past in poor lighting, for probably pennies.
