standing on a lock gate looking up towards the next higher gate. over the top of the gate are the upper decks of a very large pleasure cruiser. the canal itself is stone walled and the lock in front of us is nearly filled with water.

looking from the canal lock upper basin at the top of the Canal wall. its made from cut granite blocks and curves a beautiful s shape towards the first lock gate. the other side of the lock gate is a very large tourist pleasure cruiser. it only barely fits in the canal - two metres to spare fore and aft, and half a metre either side. its lovely sunny day with people milling about the canal locks
