<div>After reading the Britney memoir, I thought <em>May as well read the OTHER most talked about memoir from this year</em>, and I thought it might be similar to Britney's in that most of the WTF moments would have been covered already in the press. But no! TOO MUCH WTF TO BE HAD HERE.<br><br>Now, obviously, Harry is still going to have his blind spots, and therapy at this stage will have only unraveled so much (since there is SO, SO MUCH to unravel), but he does try to be fair about himself and the circumstances in which he was raised. It really does say a lot that him being sent to an active war zone during his military service felt like a welcome break from his usual life.<br><br>Anyway, I'm definitely no royalist, but I've often thought that the life must be strange to experience, no matter how close to wearing the crown you are, and this book confirmed that. It's definitely worth a library read.</div>

Rated Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump 10/10

De twee journalisten kwamen heel dichtbij Trump en zijn team. Gesprekken zijn letterlijk opgeschreven. Afgezien van de corruptie is het schrikbarend om te zien hoe hij op zijn gevoel beslissingen neemt en alle advies van experts in de wind slaat. De experts durven geen tegengas te geven en laten hem zijn gang gaan. <br/>Je wordt niet blij van dit boek maar het is het waanzinnig om alles van zo dichtbij mee te maken. <br/>Het eerdere boek van Haberman over Trump is ook de moeite waard, trouwens.

Rated Q: A Novel 6/10

Reading this book, I did not fall headlong like the narrator does with Q, or like he does in describing his latest plans for a book. It's a bit funny, but it also made me think, "Oh good lord, would we just get to how this resolves instead of watching him flail?" Still, that need to know what happens never goes away, and for that reason, I kept going. I read it while on vacation, and for airplane/hotel reading, it's a worthy distraction. Yes, it's a bit heavy-handed with the symbolism, but part of me suspects that it's done in a farcical way. Not being able to tell was annoying, even though I wanted to keep reading. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this book. Was I more patient with its faults because I was on vacation?<br><br><i>Would I feel differently if I were able to go back and read it under different circumstances?</i><br><br>Oh, I see what you did there, Mandery. Rated The Necessary Death of Lewis Winter 4/10

<div>Though I am fine with a narrative style that is more concerned with the what the characters are thinking about as the action occurs, there is not a lot here BESIDES that. This is the first book in a "Glasgow" trilogy, but you'd barely know it if the back cover didn't tell you. While I understand this was a deliberate choice made by the author, it has the effect of making the characters divorced from their surroundings. There's an argument to be made that an insular crime world WOULD be divorced from other things going on, but it doesn't completely work here.<br><br>Also, there is all of one woman in this book, and half the time, we see her from the point of view of an asshole cop who is basically calling her a lying whore every chance he gets. When we get her point of view, it's... fine, I guess. She doesn't have more or less depth than anyone else, but that's not saying much.<br><br>While I did glean a few useful details for why I picked up this book to begin with, I will not be carrying on with the series.</div>
