<div>LOVED so much about this very smart and empathetic look at being an artist, art in general, addict parents, and memory. I also really liked the photographs of her father's work interspersed throughout. It's too bad (I'm assuming) printing considerations mean that the photos are black and white, but they're all still very striking. I definitely recommend this book.</div>

When I originally reviewed these stories, they were all separated in the Goodreads system, so I had 4 different ratings, but I'll rate it here again: If loved Missy on the show, you'll also love this. And the second audio collection. And whatever more are hopefully coming.
Rated Monkeybicycle 8/10
So, yes, Monkeybicycle is a silly name that gets your attention, but they offer plenty of substance, at least from what I've seen in Volume 8. There are hundreds of literary journals out there, more than one could probably every read, but I'm glad I found this one.<br><br>I think my favorite pieces from the book are Scott Geiger's "Inventory," and Curtis Smith's "Lenin!" Both are a bit strange and lonely, and neither make it clear from the outset how the story might turn out.<br><br>Other highlights from the collection include Summer Block's satire "The New Yorker Fiction Section Presents: Killer Robots From Space," Ben Nickol's "Exceptional Red Canoes," and Annam Manthiram's "Variations on a Blossoming Marriage."<br><br>(For a much more complete review, head on over to <a href="http://glorifiedloveletters.blogspot.com/2011/09/monkeybicycle8-springsummer-2011.html">Glorified Love Letters</a>.)

Rated My Dead Dad Was in ZZ Top: 100% Real*, Never-Before-Seen Documents from the World of Rock and Roll 8/10
This is a funny, quick-read book that probably does better with readers who are familiar with the musicians referenced throughout. One does not need in-depth knowledge, but having spent time listening to both classic rock radio and the first incarnation of MTV’s 120 Minutes certainly helps. There are not a lot of music books that reference Yo La Tengo, Bob Seger, Fleetwood Mac, and The Butthole Surfers within such a short collection of pages.<br><br>Glaser’s previous writing credits include <i>Late Night with Conan O’Brien</i> and <i>Saturday Night Live</i>, and like those shows, not every joke is hilarious, but there were certainly enough to keep me reading. He rides the line between stupid-funny and witty-funny well, and it would be a good book to give to a music-loving friend with a sense of humor. Is it anything groundbreaking?
