<div>Though it took me the first quarter of the book or so to really be hooked on the story, I liked this book a lot. At the halfway point, the plot really starts moving, and the details throughout are excellent. Between the clothes people choose, to the different environments the characters find themselves in, all of it seemed really well researched. Maybe we didn't have to know EVERY street name the characters walk down, but that's ok. Having been to North Beach/Chinatown several times, it was fun to read about somewhat familiar places as they would have been in the early '50s. I also appreciated reading a YA book that felt real. Nobody has a twee name, the ending isn't tidy, and the treatment of romance (and acting upon it) felt true to life, no matter the decade. Definitely recommend this one</div>

Great overview of the recent (and not so recent) history of Romania, told through the experiences of a journalist who has been visiting the country over the last 30 years or so. I would recommend this book to anyone traveling into Romania and who would like to understand the country and its people a bit better. After reading this book, I felt I could better sympathize with the Romanians - which is wonderful when a book can accomplish this.

This 'myth' is quickly dispelled by the author of [b:Evil: Inside Human Violence and Cruelty|573611|Evil Inside Human Violence and Cruelty|Roy F. Baumeister|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1311990046l/573611._SY75_.jpg|932870].<br><br>What I find most compelling about the book is that Evil is viewed from the perspective of the perpetrator, instead of the victim. This creates a matter of fact depiction of evil, which some might find disturbing (e.g. "One could even suggest that it is wasteful (from a practical point of view) to kill a pretty woman without raping her first.")<br><br>The book seems to be primarily aimed at Americans, as an often-recurring theme in the book is racial segregation and violence. In that sense, it would have been more interesting if the author tried to include a wider range of evils.

Rated Eat That Frog!: 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time 8/10
Sure, you have to read through the highly questionable 'scientific' statements of the author that doing this and that will improve your productivity by 500%, double your income in three months or get you laid at least 3 times per week (that one I made up, sorry), but all in all the book does provide a lot of useful tips for becoming more efficient with your time. The 21 tips, or 'ways', do not seem to be provided in any particular order - the author is just spewing out all his life lessons in a single printed monologue (like many self-help books). Still, I would recommend the book to basically anyone who is just looking for some tips to get more (meaningful) work done.
