I’ve complained there needs to be an easier way to move my posts to another ActivityPub platform.
But I’ll shush now after reading about Bluesky’s data export process. Good gracious.

First, #Bluesky corp shadowbanned my account about 6 hours ago (more or less).
A few minutes ago, they completely suspended the account.
Reason? Unknown.
They claim:
1. They don't do shadowbanning. But they actually do, you'll get flagged with a hidden label "needs-review".
2. They claim "needs-review" is for accounts with suspicious activities like harassing people (not guilty), scamming (not guilty), suspicious (not guilty).
But they suspend you any way.
Oh, the account is hosted on an independent PDS. Yes, ATmosphere network suspension rest on Bluesky corps shoulders. All ATproto roads lead to Bluesky corp.
If you don't have any connection to the powers-that-be, it's more likely goodbye data. So much for championing "portability" and "owning your data". 🤷🏽
For sure the reason will be "it's automated" again, we've heard that since 2024 and it's still a very faulty "automated system" that produces high false positives.
I wonder if there's a limit to how large an #ATproto repo can be.I can't do anything with my @youronly.one account anymore since 09-02 07:38 😅😭 Relog, use another browser, use a different appview, nothing. Only DMs work. Can login fine.pdsls.dev/at://did:plc...

Recently there has been a lot of discourse about ActivityPub and AT Protocol which has been quite dividing and heated.
Yesterday at the Social Web CG meeting (the group that maintains the ActivityPub and related specifications), I proposed releasing a statement that counters the narrative that one of these protocols must win, when both protocols can co-exist and have a lot to learn from each other.
The statement has been co-signed by various members of both Social Web CG, SocialCG, and the AT Protocol community.
“We do not win by tearing each other down, which only emboldens and empowers those who do not want either protocol to succeed.”
“Arguing between us only emboldens those that seek to derail and destroy efforts to build an open social web.”
You can read the full statement here:

Just pushed a new release, adding support of login and crosspost via #Bluesky / #ATProto https://github.com/neodb-social/neodb/releases/tag/0.10.3rc1
although lack of certain features, e.g. CW on text (it's on attachment atm) and editing (which is supported in protocol but not on flagship instance), the pds service itself and libraries (shout out to atproto.blue) works surprisingly well.
I'm seriously considering if NeoDB should be dual-stack in the long term.

Even before the arrival of #atproto was the question of what #decentralization of the web means quite murky, with multiple competing protocols at different abstraction layers. As frequently said, at one level the web is already decentralized so envisaging pure #p2p is also conceivable, why the need for #activitypub (or whatever) "servers"?
We come to realize that the problem is not well defined. First of all it does matter what you assume about the distribution of silicon and networks...
