How did other #actuallyautistic #autistic fellows learn additional languages? I need to learn Danish. I feel like I need to focus on grammar and vocabulary first (i.e. written language) to be able to think complete sentences fluently and understand what I read, before being able to transition to speaking and listening.
But in Danish, all resources, schools, and teachers force spoken first. This had made learning the language a pain for me.
I am wondering if this is a me thing or if others are the same? If anyone finds this relatable, how did you get past it? How did you succeed on your language learning endeavors? #askautistic
