Google hammers another, extremely petty nail in the Android Open Source Project’s coffin
The slow but steady march to the grave for the Android Open Source Project continues. Every few months Google hammers another big nail in the coffin of Android as an open source effort, and I've documented them all here on OSNews (nail, nail, nail, nail, nail),
The #ManfredApp is now also available for #Android. Manfred is a cross-platform #MastodonClient which was initially published for #iOS and as a desktop app for #macOS. For now it is free.
It features:
- Configurable multi-column setup
- Multi-account support
- A focus mode (if you want to reduce distractions)
- Many timeline options and filters
I am still collecting feedback and I am open for your ideas.

Switched to a #NoSlop #Android #Launcher.
It was hard to say goodbye to #KissLauncher after using it for literal years, but #LastLauncher is really hitting my minimalism button. 😁
Looking for a minimalistic journal app? Give TowiTowi a try. It runs on Android, Windows and Linux, so you can sync the notes you started on mobile and finish them on the desktop.
Of course you can use it for all kinds of notes. I'm using it now for writing a novel ♥️
He creat l'arxiu apk de #Tuts per #Android per si la voleu provar. Des del vostre mòbil Android, amb el navegador:
https://tuts.cat/tuts.apk

Hey politicians, instead of age gating the internet and fucking up all our privacy, can you do something useful such as ban all promotional use within push notifications? I don't even want push notifications telling me about a new feature within the app, that's what release notes are for. I just got a Hoopla push notification that was telling me they have a lot of titles I can watch, but it was in the style of a generic promotional ad. Just no. I am guessing Android users have to put up with this bullshit too? Same with Netflix. I don't want a push notification telling me I haven't watched in a while. Fuck off. And fuck you if you are a developer and you do this. If you do this, you deserve to be pirated, that is how much I hate this practice. #Apple #Android

We just released a new update.
This update includes an important bug fix on the notification screen. Pixelix now also supports pinning of posts.
We also added a setting to enable/disable double tap to like and made some other improvements and bug fixes.
The update is already out on GitHub. Play Store, F-Droid and the App Store will follow soon.

So Google showed off a new feature on their Android keyboard where you can use ASL for dictation. On paper it seems very useful, but when I stopped to think about it it didn't make much sense to me.
Voice dictation has advantages over typing in that it's faster (albeit with less control over the exact transcribed text), and can be done with one hand or sometimes even hands free without looking at the screen. Meanwhile the new ASL dictation is still faster with less control, but seemingly requires three hands (one of them can be a mount) and to look at the screen while you use both hands for signing. In what situations would this be better than typing?
Can I get any thoughts on this from any deaf/mute people? Or even from hearing/voiced people who use voice dictation, as I almost never use that feature. It's entirely possible I missed something, but my current analysis is that it's yet another flashy yet ultimately useless feature.

#help #eOS #lineage #graphene #Android

🕊 I’m rolling out the Android app for AWAGAM, the app equivalent to the TLD, domain, and URL blocker Chromium extension.
For this I’m looking for additional testers—the more the merrier, if only to provide some light feedback and support the launch and lend a hand.
🖐️ Before you swipe/scroll on, the app takes no user data and nothing is being tracked, either.
If you're interested, please message me—I’d look forward to coordinating!
For a first impression see the extension, existing blocklists, and how you could create your own blocklists (that then also work with the app):

#Google is going to close down #Android platform, making installing "unverified" apps almost impossible for a regular user. This would completely kill #FDroid, something I rely on to get apps that don't track me, don't show me ads and don't try to exploit me.
If you care about #FreeSoftware, you should care about this. Maybe with enough public uproar, Google like many other corporations before it will back off from this plan. But it certainly won't happen on it's own.
