#Amstrad #Retrocomputing experts: can any of you tell me what I'm looking at here?

Specifically, what's the bizarre reference to "john disc filename fred" at the top of the document?

I found this sheet among a trove of photocopied Amstrad software documentation that appears to have been used by a Cork (Ireland)-based business during the mid 1980s.

(I'm an Atari aficionado, so not au fait with Amstrad idioms.)

Additional notes for disc versions

Disc based versions of cassette softare have reference numbers that are prefixed by a ‘1’ - eg SOFT914 becomes SOFT1914.

Unless otherwise specified, the function of the disc based program is identical to the cassette program, with the exception of the loading instructions where the usual dis¢ loader:

RUN"DISC

should be used.

By examining the catalogue (directory) of the disc, you will be able to identify the various files that constitute the complete program, and whilst it may be-possible to load and run these individual files, it is necessary to use the standard loader to ensure that the correct sequence of: chaining is’
maintained.

Please note that discs are duplicated on both sides; generally the B side and A side are identical unless otherwise specified on the label or within the the supporting text.
