I've been writing using em dashes since the 1990s. The reason AI uses em dashes is because it was trained on my writing, and that of countless other humans like me.
Elon Musk’s xAI is running 35 methane gas burning turbines (enough for a small city) while only having a permit for 15 to power the Colossus supercomputer with over 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs in Tennessee. The Southern Environmental Law Center contends the generators are "illegal," yet they can keep running, reports The Guardian.

Am 27. Mai wird Meta beginnen, mit den Daten all jener Nutzer zu trainieren, die bis dahin nicht widersprochen haben. Datenschützer hatten versucht, diese Datensammlung zu verhindern.

The statement “why would I bother to read something someone couldn't be bothered to write?” almost perfectly captures so many peoples’ feelings about #AI.
And it evokes @pluralistic’s reminder that although AI probably can’t do your job, an AI salesman can probably convince your boss that it can.
In the end, this technology (or rather the market for this tech) is aimed squarely at its least noble use: cheapening and degrading human labor that doesn’t fit neatly into a balance sheet.

A verified ID is required to access AI models in OpenAI's API to prevent IP theft. 😂 They went from stealing everything from everyone to now claiming it's their original work, despite hundreds of pending copyright cases against them in the courts. Why is this even allowed? That's hypocrisy at best.
