Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 929 , Thursday 14/05/2026

Thursday started at around 7am.

Breakfast was had & chores done then we had to go to the funeral of Mrs S’s uncle who sadly died around the same time as her mum, but we only found out about this last month!

It was a lovely service, the sun making an appearance to see him off in style.

This afternoon has been a quiet one, I spent it trundling around the Milky Way.

We had a naughty Chinese takeaway for tea & very nice it was too!

Final Thoughts.

Not a bad day all told, but not much energy. I will have to see if I can find some spoons to go shopping tomorrow.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 930 , Friday 15/05/2026

Out at the gym again by 7am this morning.

Got back had breakfast & did my chores.

Also swapped out the filters in the vacuum cleaner, because they were, as my sister would say, minging!

I was going to go shopping today but we still have loads from last week so that mixed with a lack of motivation meant the trip has been postponed.

Enjoying doing a bit of exploration in Elite Dangerous as I return with goodies for the Engineer.

Pizza for tea, although I am not enjoying them as I once did, I think the gym is altering my biochemistry!

Final Thoughts.

I am persona non feline with Alice mog tonight. Her coat was in a right state because I haven’t brushed her in a while & brushing the cats comes, along with clearing out the litter tray, under the heading of ‘house elf work’ as far as Mrs S is concerned.

Sophie mog is fine, she loves being brushed but her sister feels that it comes under the same heading as being given her worming drops!

Hey ho, all done for a little while, Alice may forgive me but that seems unlikely.

Friday started before 6am with Mrs S deciding that crushing cans, while having all the doors open to carry the noise, was a good plan!

Gym & then chores, with breakfast coming a very late 3rd place at 08:30.

The weather has continued to be nice, although it did cloud over this afternoon, threatening rain that never came.

Final Thoughts.

Another day closer to the finishing line!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 968 , Monday 22/06/2026

Monday started with the 06:30 alarm going off.

Down to the gym then back for breakfast & chores.

Had to go curtain shopping for Mrs S’s ‘study’, we ended up getting a blackout blind, which I had to fit in the glare of the noonday sun, which was fun.

Mrs S likes the result though so alls well that ends well!

It’s been a very hot day, so windows & doors were shut & curtains shut!

Caught up with a bit of Starfield this afternoon then did tea - quiche & salad followed by strawberries & ice cream.

Final Thoughts.

I was knackered & peopled out after yesterday, but of course that had to take a backseat as I had to do my house elf bit.

Tomorrow could be fun!

A gentle reminder that #neurodiversity is a thing, and the diversity of cognitive neurotypes means that the sweeping generalization you just made about human nature is probably wrong.

No, not everyone thinks the same way, or even sees the world the same way. But public discourse almost always ignores and excludes #neurodivergent (ND) folk from the conversation. Our needs are not considered and our opinions are not respected, if the neurotypical (NT) majority even remembers we exist.

I feel strongly that the path to fixing the world goes through embracing neurodiversity and making the world more inclusive of all neurotypes. The world has been the playground of the NT majority for all of recorded history, and we've seen how that goes.

#Autistic people often talk about our need for justice, or even fairness. There's a study that's famous in the autistic community for concluding that autistic people are impaired by caring too much about ethics and living by our principles, because their study showed that autisitic people would not cheat to get a benefit unfairly. In my opinion, choosing to act unethically when it gets you something is not a good thing. The whole point of ethics is not to do that! "It's OK to cheat if it helps me win" is a deranged thing to think, buy that's the standard the researchers used to conclude that it's autistic people who have a problem.

This is the kind of bullshit that is strangling our civilization. The people who can see the real problems or could fix them have been marginalized so society doesn't have to step up and deal with this death spiral of cognitive overspecialization. And yet we talk about ableism and neuronormativity like that only hurts ND folk, when it's actually hurting the whole world.

OK, so maybe this reminder wasn't as gentle as I hoped for. It's hard to talk about this without getting all worked up, but somebody has to say it. #ActuallyAutistic

imagine you’re a “normal person,” raised in a world built by and for #Autistics and populated with almost all Autistics, with the “normal people,” marginalized out of sight. You’re a normal sort, with three digits of IQ, you fancy you can put two and two together and you can see the Autistics have all sorts of problems, and you lived a full human lifetime among them, read a lifetime’s worth of their books- here’s my question:

@actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd I expect most neurodivergent folk can relate to this: whenever I have an idea for a project, I have an initial phase of excitement. Yes, I can do this! Love this idea!

Then my brain spins off in a hundred different directions, identifying all the complexities and things I have to think about and all the work involved and all the ways it could go wrong.

I feel WAY overwhelmed before I've even started, and it just takes the wind right out of my sails. Now I'm overwhelmed and stressed and this doesn't sound interesting or exciting at all.

The obvious answer is break it down into smaller, manageable pieces. What other ideas or strategies might help alleviate this overwhelm?

Woken up at around 5am by next door’s kids banging around on something, I will not be sorry to see them go, I only hope that our new neighbours like to stay in bed a bit longer!

It’s been a sunny warm day, went to the gym, did the chores & knocked about the house.

We had a decorator come & price up doing the box room - the other one who came the other month has been spinning us along & will not give a firm date, the lass who came around today can start in a week!

Final Thoughts.

Not a bad day, although I am still struggling with the whole peopling thing!

I’ve got the story of the British/Canadian “Home children,” on again, and again I’m blown away by the lengths they will go to to ensure trauma and ignorance and disconnection in the next generation and Britain literally built Canada and the rest of the colonies on it.

These enormous crimes upon the world’s Indigenous were perpuated by committing crimes against the colonizing powers’ own children, tearing them out if their lives and families, destroying their psyches and then giving them a homestead, it’s make your place, colonize or starve.
.
It’s a difficult argument to make, group dynamics is built into the majority and growing still, but group dynamics is an Allistic . . . error, there really is no in-group, and almost no-one is getting the “good,” treatment. Again, the reason they see an out-group is because they are abused.
.
Group dynamics is the Allistic usual thought, like capitalism, we are to believe hurting people gives us the good life, we are to believe our life comes from destroying others’ lives but again, it’s not true and despite we are mostly all engaged in capitalism and group dynamics, we are still mostly poor and still mostly living as poorly as our enemies.
.
And again, so the payoffs are not material things, but emotional, feeding a need to hurt, whether it pays off in the good life or not, and again, always, if you wanted to create this need, you would probably hit children.
