#Louisiana prosecutors have secured the indictment of a #NewYork doctors who prescribes and mails medication abortion to Louisiana patients. It's a major test of NY's shield law, which prohibits state officials from enforcing these charges or any resulting conviction.

Texas Banned Abortion. Then Sepsis Rates Soared.
—
Pregnancy became far more dangerous in Texas after the state banned abortion, according to ProPublica’s first-of-its-kind analysis, which found the sepsis rate for women hospitalized as they miscarried in the 2nd trimester shot up by more than 50%.
Three Months After Missouri Voted to Make Abortion Legal, Access Is Still Being Blocked
—
Reproductive rights are now enshrined in the state constitution, but Missouri’s main abortion provider is fighting legal hurdles to resume offering the procedure. Meanwhile, anti-abortion lawmakers strategize to prevent a return of abortion services.
#BREAKING “New York state court blocked #Texas from filing a legal action against a New York doctor for prescribing and sending #abortion pills to a Texas woman.
The unprecedented move catapults the interstate abortion wars to a new level, setting the stage for a high-stakes legal battle between states that ban abortion and states that support abortion rights” https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/27/health/new-york-texas-abortion-shield-law.html
So a fetus is a person when trying to deny women rights, but not when the hospital's wallet is on the line? It's obvious the true ideology here is about controlling women and nothing more.

#ProPublica won the prestigious #Pulitzer Prize for #PublicService for series “Life of the Mother,”which judges described as “urgent reporting about #pregnant #women who #died after doctors delayed urgently needed #care for fear of violating vague ‘life of the mother’ exceptions in states w/strict #abortion #laws.” The prize is given to staff of a news org that performed “meritorious public service.” This is the 2nd consecutive year ProPublica was awarded the distinction…

Six months ago, Missouri voters approved an amendment to the state constitution that enshrined their right to abortion. Republican lawmakers have now approved a new referendum that would seek the amendment's repeal and ban most abortions, with exceptions for rape and incest. "Republican senators used a series of rare procedural moves to cut off discussion by opposing Democrats before passing the proposed abortion-rights revision by a 21-11 vote. The measure passed the Republican-led House last month," according to @AssociatedPress. Here's more.

"There’s no opting out of being tracked: if you drive, you should simply assume that these cameras are logging your movements.
A Texas police officer used Flock to perform a nationwide search of more than 83,000 ALPR cameras while looking for a woman who had had an abortion."
But who cares?
The only danger to women are trans women in bathroom and sports! /s

Apparently the White House is assessing ways to “persuade” women ti have more children.
I can save them a ton of time and energy:

Childcare & paid time off
Education
clean air & water
Affordable housing
Legalized abortion
Address climate change
Stop Being Fascists
It’s really not that hard.

This week's net.wars, "Negative externalities", watches Texas police use license plate data to search for a woman they think might have self-managed an abortion; pushes back on a report that suggests a publicly funded NHS period-tracking app is a better idea; and notes the passage of the UK's new data bill weakening citizens' rights over their data: https://netwars.pelicancrossing.net/2025/06/13/negative-externalities/ #NetWars #UKpolitics #Abortion #DataBill #Privacy

Kat Cammack, a Florida Republican, struggled to get care for an ectopic pregnancy due to her state’s abortion ban.
Is she fighting to change the ban? Talking about those who’ve lost their lives?
No. She’s blaming the left. Saying it’s pro abortion “fear mongering” that caused the delay.
She’s blaming the very people who’ve been trying to save her & those like her.
Her delay was caused by healthcare workers fearing criminal prosecution.
They can’t intervene until it’s clear the life of the mother is in jeopardy.
It’s a horribly difficult judgment call no healthcare worker should ever be forced to make.
Shame on Kat for not taking her experience and using it to save lives.
