It's been 25 years. When are we going to stop with the "shared bond" crap about 9/11? I saw a full grown man angrily and aggressively shout a stream of obscenities at children who were holding signs opposing the invasion of Iraq outside their school. The country lost its collective mind and, looking around, it sure seems it never found it again.(*)

(*) I know the US has always had deep issues with racism and intolerance, and has always been warmongering. Nonetheless I think 9/11 represents a phase shift.
