九七大限之時，香港人心惶惶，關錦鵬說自己一生只懂光影，不懂其他，於是，他就把整個舞台、整座城拍下來，試着用鏡頭凍結這熟悉的香港。事實上，他看得很透徹，香港人並非不懂這座殖民城市的瘡孔，不過就是害怕變化。片名「念你如昔」，恐怕又是一個雙關語，既念母親，也念香港。
