Sequel to the comedy movie Lam Ah Chun

The two lead roles (Liang Tien & Chang Ying) are in competition (never really explained why), teaching people lesson (including each other), but when the going gets tough, they join forces.

Li Tzu-Liang is returning to Hong Kong with the ashes of his wife. He now has to bring up his two sons on his own. Though he is quite well-off, he his plagued by debts and when he loses a large sum of money betting on horses, he has to turn to dangerous loan-sharks. Here starts a spiral which gets him and his two sons deeper and deeper into trouble.

In the waning days of China's feudal aristocracy, a powerful family crumbles under the weight of tradition, betrayal, and inner decay. The Yang household, ruled by the domineering patriarch Mr. Yang, is torn apart as each son struggles with personal misery: a forbidden love, a loveless marriage, a murderous rivalry, and class-defying passion. As secrets of smuggled arms and illicit affairs come to light, the once-mighty clan collapses amid death, scandal, and disgrace.

The new generation is rebellious and lacking in love. A group of youngsters is hanging out together aimlessly. They spend their life in a haze of dope violence and scrapes with the law. Eventually the girl gets pregnant, the guy is locked up in jail and ends up paralyzed due to drug abuse, and the rest get hooked to their blasted lives.

The police track down a notorious burglar in order to apprehend him. However, he is given a chance to make up for his ways by working with the police on a case involving stolen diamonds.
