In the last weeks of a Southern California high school year, Bobby DeVito recruits shy newcomer Darryl to run against his popular ex-girlfriend Christine for student body president, turning a simple election into a nasty campaign of revenge and dirty tricks.

A television newswoman picks up the story of a 1960s rock band whose long-lost leader — Eddie Wilson — may still be alive, while searching for the missing tapes of the band's never-released album.

Set in 1958, the coming of age story follows four lower middle-class Brooklyn teenagers known as The Lords of Flatbush. The Lords chase girls, steal cars, shoot pool, get into street fights, and hang out at a local malt shop.
