The Ideon: A Contact is a compilation movie of the first thirty-two episodes of Space Runaway Ideon. It was released alongside its sequel, The Ideon: Be Invoked, on a double bill in 1982.
Synopsis: A Buff Clan ship, under the command of Gije Zaral, DS-outs near the Earthling colony of Solo. It is on a mission to look for the legendary Ide, a source of infinite energy.

惑星ゾラと呼ばれる地球。ここは盗んだ物も3日間守り通して逃げのびれば自分の物になる、という掟が通る無法の星。
その大地を駆ける暴走族、サンドラット団は、ウォーカーマシンに襲われたところを、負傷した少年ジロンに助けられた。サンドラットの女リーダーのラグは、このジロンに興味津々。なにしろ手負いの身ながらたった一人で、ブルーストーンの運び屋キャリング・カーゴが開くバザーに乗り込み、ウォーカーマシンを分捕ろうというのだ。バザーにはキャリングの用心棒や、無法の星に似つかわしい荒くれ者ばかりが揃っている。そんな所に乗り込んで行こうと言うジロンが目指す獲物は、なんと！　キャリングの新鋭ウォーカーマシン「ザブングル」！！

What would you do if you suddenly found yourself in the middle of a war? Teenager Amuro Ray sees his life shattered when war comes to his home. During the chaos, Amuro finds himself inside the mobile suit Gundam, the Earth Federation's new secret weapon, and he somehow gets it to work. Amuro and the other refugees flee their homeland on the warship White Base. This group of children and inexperienced soldiers will change the outcome of the war.

Joe Yabuki is a troubled youth, whose only solution to problems is throwing punches at them. What he lacks in manners and discipline, he makes up for with his self-taught fighting skills.

One day, while wandering the slums of Doya, Joe gets into a fight with the local gang. Although greatly outnumbered, he effortlessly defeats them, drawing the attention of Danpei Tange—a former boxing coach turned alcoholic. Seeing his potential, he offers to train Joe into Japan's greatest boxer. At first, Joe dismisses Danpei as a hopeless drunk; but after the trainer saves his life, he agrees to live with him and learn the art of boxing. Unfortunately, Joe's personality makes him an unruly student, and he often falls back to his old ways.

To survive the harsh world of his new career, Joe needs to trust his mentor and master the techniques taught to him. However, the road to becoming a professional boxer is rife with struggles that will test his mettle to the end.

故事舞台是在机动战士高达中的一年战争终结后七年。战争结束后一部份吉恩公国军事势力并未降伏继续在各地与地球联邦军发生军事冲突，因此地球联邦军内部强力主张追杀吉恩残余份子的激进排他势力泰坦斯（Titans）结成。由于泰坦斯对宇宙住民的强硬血腥镇压的手段，反势力奥干A.E.U.G.(台湾翻译为奥干，港译为奥古)结成。故事的开始于宇宙世纪0087年（U.C. 0087），前半主要围绕奥干和泰坦斯两派系的对抗，中段吉恩残余份子上阿克西斯(港译为阿古捷斯)登场，与奥干、泰坦斯角力周周旋，展开激战。

Universal Century 0087, 7 years have passed since the end of the One Year War between the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon. The Earth Federation has created an elite task force, known as the Titans, who are responsible for hunting the remaining Zeon forces. However, the power-hungry Titans have spurred the creation of a rebellious faction called the Anti-Earth Union Group (AEUG).

U.C. 0123. After a generation of peace, the Earth Federation has begun to build new space colonies to house humanity's growing population. But a new force, the aristocratic Crossbone Vanguard, plans to seize the colonies of the newly constructed Frontier Side for itself. As their home becomes a battlefield, a handful of young civilians struggle to escape the conflict. To save his friends and family, the reluctant warrior Seabook Arno becomes the pilot of a new Gundam which bears the code name F91.

火星開拓作業のためにサイボーグとなった者たちが、自らを「メガノイド」と称して人類に対し反乱を起こした。メガノイドを生み出してしまった破嵐創造博士の息子である破嵐万丈は、巨大ロボット「ダイターン3」と大量の金塊を奪取して地球に脱出した。
万丈は金塊を元手にシン・ザ・シティに居を構え、執事ギャリソンとパートナーのビューティーと共に、メガノイドの人類支配阻止のために立ち上がる。

Brilliant scientist Sōzō Haran was conducting research on Mars when he created the Meganoids, a new form of cyborg life capable of metacognition. Suddenly Dr. Haran lost control of his creation as the Meganoids slaughtered him and his entire family, save his youngest son, the 16-year-old Banjō Haran. Banjō escaped from Mars on a rocket ship with Daitarn 3, a solar-powered super robot. Now 18 years old and living on Earth, Banjō fights against the Meganoids and their leader, Don Zauser. Banjō must gather allies to help him stop the Meganoid threat, which aspires to turn all humans into cyborgs and "improve" the human race.

La storia si basa sulle vicende di una antica famiglia di origine extraterrestre: i Jin. Giunti sulla Terra più di 200 anni prima, in seguito alla distruzione del loro pianeta natale, Bern, da parte del crudele Gaizok, i progenitori dei Jin, insieme coin i cugini delle famiglie Kamie e Kamikita, si integrarono con gli esseri umani in maniera perfetta e impararono a conviver con essi.

Le cose sembravano andare per il meglio, ma il passato, rimasto sepolto per due secoli, era destinato a tornare alla luce in maniera repentina e violenta. Dallo spazio, infatti, giuse nuovamente a distruggere le esistenze pacifiche dei membri delle famiglia, il malvagio Gaizok, accompagnato dal perfido generale Killer the Butcher.

Le mire di Gaizok non erano certo cambiate in tutti gli anni trascorsi, e il suo scopo era rimasto semplice quanto atroce: la completa distruzione di tutte le forme di vita dell'universo.

Le tre famiglie, risolute ad evitare la scomparsa della loro seconda patria, decidono di armarsi e si preparano a combattere contro l'efferato invasore. La base operativa King Biar viene rapidamente riattivata, così come il robot da combattimento Zambot 3, e comincia una disperata lotta senza quartiere contro un nemico subdolo e pericoloso. La popolazione terrestre, però, reagisce in maniera assurda di fronte al coraggioso comportamento delle tre famiglie e arriva a ritenerle responsabili del conflitto appena scatenatosi. Ciò nonostante il giovane pilota dello Zambot 3, Kappei, e i suoi fratelli non si scoraggiano e proseguono da soli la battaglia contro Gaizok, consci di essere l'unica ancora di salvezza del pianeta Terra.

La guerra attraversa fasi alterne, durante le quali si ha modo di imparare a conoscere tutti gli esponenti delle tre famiglie, e viene pagata a carissimo prezzo: alcuni degli eroici protagonisti sacrificheranno la loro vita in uno dei finali più drammatici e tragicamente commoventi dell'intera produzione nipponica.

There once existed a planet named Beal, until it was wiped out by the mysterious entity known as Gaizok. The few remaining survivors escaped to Earth and split into three families, named Jin, Kamie, and Kamikita respectively. While attempting to start a new life, the collectively known "Jin Family" prepared for the inevitable Gaizok invasion on Earth and its giant mechanical beasts known as "Mecha Boosts". In order to defend their new home, they have built three vehicles which when combined form the mighty Zambot 3. The Jin Family must not only defend against Gaizok attacks, but also harsh criticisms from the very people they protect, who blame the Jin Family for the invasion in the first place.

早在远古时代，人类祖先刚出现于地球上没多久，坎贝尔星人奥蕾阿娜和大将军加鲁达便率军来到地球，正当他们准备支配控制地球之际，漫长的冰河时期来临了，他们只得潜入地下静候时机。
时间一转眼过去了三千多年，地球科学家南原猛博士在调查世界各地古代遗迹的过程中意外的发现了坎贝尔星人的足迹，并得知了他们妄图侵占地球的阴谋；为了应对随时可能到来的危机，他在国联协助创建的南原研究所中设计制造了超电磁机器人孔巴特拉V，挑选了五位青少年成为其驾驶员：自幼丧失双亲，在孤儿院“太阳学园”长大的暴走族——狂热机车爱好者葵豹马、奥运会射击鬼才浪花十三、九州阿苏地区出身的巨汉——柔道高手西川大作、自己的孙女南原千鹤以及IQ高达200以上的9岁天才小学生北小介；终于苏醒的奥蕾阿娜再次命加鲁达展开了对地球的侵攻行动，孔巴特拉V与坎贝尔星人奴隶兽、熔岩兽漫长而艰苦卓绝的死斗开始了……
本剧与长浜忠夫监督随后的《超电磁侠波鲁吉斯V》及《斗将戴莫斯》一起被合称为“长浜忠夫三部曲”，开创了日本机器人动画史上“合理合体”式超级机器人的先驱，而五机合体的设定构思也对后来的机器人动画及超级战队模式的特摄作品产生了极其深远的影响。

角の有無が階級を運命付けるボアザン星。ラ・ゴールは皇帝の甥（弟の長子）として皇位継承の資格を持ちながら、角が生まれつきなかった為失脚。妻・ロザリアとも引き裂かれて労奴に落とされるが、反乱を起こし、星から脱出。地球に落ち延びて科学者・剛光代に救われる。
ラ・ゴールは光代と結婚して剛健太郎と名乗り、3児を儲け、浜口博士や岡・防衛長官と共にボルテスや基地ビッグファルコンの建設に着手。
一方、ボアザンでラ・ゴールとロザリアとの間に生まれていた皇子ハイネルは、“裏切り者の子”と後ろ指を指され、皇帝ズ・ザンバジルへの忠誠を証明し実の父を倒すべく地球攻撃を決定した。
かくてボルテスとボアザンの獣士との壮絶な死闘が始まる。

Voltes V narrates the heroic exploits of the young robot pilots known as The Voltes Team and their trials against alien invaders from the planet Boazan. Armed with the Super Electromagnetic Machine Voltes V, the five pilots drive back the invaders one Beast Fighter at a time. The series is different from typical super robot anime of the time in that it illustrates human sentimentality and common values, with underlying themes such as the love of family, equality, selfless sacrifice, team work, and patriotism.

Voltes V is a work that has a heavy revolutionary undertone. The series ends with Voltes V's spectacular counterattack on planet Boazan to liberate the slaves from the oppression of a tyrannical ruler, Emperor Zu Zambojil. After Voltes V, Tadao Nagahama directed the TV anime version of Rose of Versailles, which leaves speculation that perhaps Voltes V was influenced by Nagahama's research on the French Revolution for his future project.[original research?] The theme of enslaved population rising up to overthrow an aristocracy lend support to theory.

Voltes V's arsenal consists of variety of missiles, a bazooka, beams, and weapons such as Chōdenji Top (Similar to the Chōdenji Yo-Yo of Combattler V) and Tenkūken (天空剣 Sky Sword, "Laser Sword" in the English dub, "Excalibur" in the Italian dub). With Tenkūken, Voltes V marks the enemy's final moments with a signature "V" slash. This established it as one of the first super robots to use a sword in its finishing attack.

Voltes V deviates from the robotic design of the Combattler V. Voltes V '​s plot has a more serious tone than the comedic storyline of Combattler V. Voltes V also follows a formula similar to that of Daimos.

时代背景：人类过快的文明进步使得世界发生了“大变动”。人们为了使地球资源能够更有效地得到利用下去，在环境严酷的土地上建造了“园顶都市”生活在那里；而把环境相对较好的土地让给了动植物。但是，有的人却认为人们即使是生活在自己原本的土地上也是可以的，于是世界各地“返乡运动”的浪潮不断袭来，离开都市、回到自然。。。
主人公是一个生活在西伯利亚的园顶都市的少年，盖那(ゲイナー),他在网络虚拟对战游戏 OvermanBattle中的表现出众而得到了"king"的称号。日常生活盖那只是一个很平凡的少年，和死去的双亲一样他也对"返乡主义者"持有怀疑的态度；但是一天他却被突然出现的西伯利亚铁道警察带走拘留了起来，在监狱里盖那遇见了一个名叫盖恩的男子。有感于盖恩的特质盖那决定和他一同越狱，盖恩带着盖那潜入梅大优公爵的收藏室盗取"overman"以便逃出园顶都市，为了打败前来阻挠的西伯利亚铁道警备队，盖那第一次驾驶着真实的overman 开始了他的战斗。。。。。
