美国时间4月21日，《纽约时报》网站发布了贾樟柯等五位国际顶级导演以“疫情”为背景创作的短片，这是希腊塞萨洛尼基电影节以“空间”为主题，以席卷全球的新冠疫情为背景，聚焦隔离生活的短片拍摄计划。该计划邀请来自全球多位导演同题创作，每部片长3分钟左右，必须全部在室内空间完成 。
《纽约时报》网率先向全球发布了这个计划中的五部影片，并配发了题为《在乏倦的隔离期寻找电影的魔力》的报道。《纽约时报》称：从视觉上来说，贾樟柯的短片《来访》是所有作品中最精良的制作，虽然只用了一天和一只手机来进行拍摄。
“这组短片的完成，标志着生命的胜利，”贾樟柯对《纽约时报》说，“它们表明无论于何种艰难的境地之中，人类的思想仍然可以通过电影自由呼吸。在此危难时刻，我们需要彼此的言语和信念，通过电影突显我们彼此的联结。”
