Superorganism [Music] Douban NeoDB
Superorganism genre: Pop
release date March 2, 2018 publisher: Domino
Composed of eight international artists recruited from all over the globe, London-based cooperative Superorganism made waves with 2017’s woozily addictive hit “Something for Your M.I.N.D”. For their debut the octet lift city sounds and place them centre stage—expect revving engines, arcade clatters and fizzing soda cans. It’s a hybrid of laidback dream-pop (“Reflections on the Screen”) and sunshine-soaked psychedelic jams (“Everybody Wants to Be Famous”) that radiates pure joy. These weird and wonderful anthems are ready to transport you to summer, whatever the weather.
Pool [Music] Douban
Porches genre: Electronic
release date Feb. 12, 2016 publisher: Domino
February 2016 marks the much-anticipated release of Pool, Porches’ debut full-length for Domino and a major step forward for frontman Aaron Maine—as an evolving singer / songwriter, and as a nascent producer. Written and recorded almost entirely in the Manhattan apartment he shares with his partner and frequent collaborator, Greta Kline a.k.a Frankie Cosmos, Pool is an elegantly drawn set of gorgeous synth-driven pop songs, and an expansive re-articulation of the melancholy we’ve come to expect from him; from the pristine harmonies of “Hour” to the undulating R&B of “Underwater” to the Auto-tuned majesty of the title track. “I feel like I naturally gravitate towards the more melancholic experiences in life,” he says, “but this time around I tried to dissect those moments and somehow extract what was so beautiful about them.” The result—recorded twice, and eventually mixed by Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Grizzly Bear, Beach House, Tobias Jesso Jr.) in his Los Angeles studio—is a sophisticated and fully immersive listening experience, with Maine’s voice at its center. “I want people to feel dark, beautiful and strong when they hear this new record,” he adds, “I want them to fall in love.”
Banane Bleue [Music] Douban
Frànçois & The Atlas Mountains
release date Feb. 26, 2021 publisher: Domino
Banane Bleue (French for “Blue Banana”) is a nomadic and truly European record, hailing from rented workspaces in some of the continent’s key cities - Berlin, Athens and Paris - and recorded with instruments that were often borrowed from likeminded musicians. Written solely by Frànçois Marry himself, close collaborator and Weird World artist Jaakko Eino Kalevi was enlisted for production duties whilst Renaud Letang (Feist, Gonzales, Connan Mockasin) mixed the album.
The title of the album is taken from the ‘blue banana’ concept, a geographical theory that groups together a corridor of Europe’s biggest cities, originally conceived in the 1980s. The theory states that the blurring of these cities’ boundaries has resulted in the formation of one massive, interconnected megalopolis. Expanding on the theory, Frànçois poetised it, picturing a luminescent blue banana shape that you can see from space with vibrant, ethereal currents that surround and bind us. It explores common cultural and romantic ground, creating an album full of missed meetings and misunderstandings.
Blood Pressures [Music] Douban
The Kills genre: Rock
release date April 5, 2011 publisher: Domino
'Blood Pressures' is the fourth studio album from post-punk duo The Kills. Following up 2008's 'Midnight Boom', Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince produce music brimming with attitude and style, typified in single 'Satellite', which is packed full of Hince's fuzzy guitar lines and dual vocals, creating an intense, smoky atmosphere. Mosshart's vocal work is as distinct and intoxicating as ever, while musically the band have become more dynamic and fierce.
Favourite Worst Nightmare [Music] NeoDB Douban
Arctic Monkeys genre: Rock
release date April 23, 2007 publisher: Domino
While this sophomore release is unmistakably Arctic Monkeys, everything's a little more muscular and aggressive. Each song is embedded with revelatory moments, as if some sort of critical mass is achieved through skillful song craft and sharp arrangements until an explosive release of energy or emotion is inevitable. Arctic Monkeys have exceeded expectations with this record.
Wet Leg [Music] NeoDB Douban
Wet Leg genre: Pop
release date April 8, 2022 publisher: Domino
The British indie rock duo have hooks stuffed with bait and a keen eye for assessing self-delusion. Their debut is the sound of two women stoking mutiny from a slow descent into madness.

Animal Collective genre: Rock

Animal Collective is a musical collective originally from Baltimore, Maryland, currently based in New York City. Animal Collective consists of Avey Tare (David Portner), Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), Deakin, or Deacon as spelled on Strawberry Jam (Josh Dibb), and Geologist (Brian Weitz). Records released under the name Animal Collective may include contributions from any or all of these members; the lineup is not uniform. The band members met in school and started recording together in various forms of collaboration from a young age. Although the band is often classified as freak folk or noise pop, it is hard to define the Animal Collective sound as they often experiment with diverse styles and ideas from album to album. The group also runs the record label Paw Tracks on which they have released their own material as well that of other artists.
Merriweather Post Pavilion is the eighth studio album by Animal Collective, released on January 6, 2009. The album is named after the Columbia, Maryland venue of the same name.
Midnight Boom [Music] NeoDB Douban
The Kills
release date March 18, 2008 publisher: Domino
2008 album from the Alterntive duo. The Kills subtly and organically fuses Pop, Glam,Bblues, Art-Punk, and Hip Hop in a manner that flits between light and dark, funny and morbid, experimental and cute. The result is a short, sharp twelve track album of sensual, fresh, and atmospheric songs. A reminder that no one on earth makes Rock 'N' Roll quite like The Kills.
