During WWII, a teenage boy discovering himself becomes love-stricken by Malèna, a sensual woman living in a small, narrow-minded Italian town.

Forced to come back to Palermo to take care of his elderly parents, a deadpan driver-for-hire takes advantage of the situation to get back at the rigid authority figures who ruined his teenage years.
