En 1972, dans l’établissement de Yomiyama au Japon, une jeune nommée Yomiyama Misaki meurt dans un accident mystérieux. Ses camarades de la classe 3-3, très attristés et ne voulant pas y croire, décident de faire comme si elle était encore en vie jusqu'à la fin de l'année, lors de la remise des diplômes. C'est alors le début d'une longue histoire...

Vingt-six ans après le drame, en 1998, un jeune garçon nommé Koichi Sakakibara est transféré dans la classe 3-3.

Il fait alors la connaissance d'une élève très discrète et mystérieuse, Misaki Mei qui porte un étrange bandeau à son œil gauche à laquelle aucun autre élève ne semble parler ou prêter attention.

Dans cette classe, il y découvre une atmosphère tendue ainsi qu'un étrange comportement provenant de ses nouveaux camarades de classe qui semblent cacher un secret terrible et inavouable...

Keisuke Takatou wakes up in a featureless white room, unaware of how and when he arrived. While exploring his whereabouts, he notices six familiar girls huddled around a large monitor—his childhood friend Kanae Hokari, the class president Miyakou Ando, his English teacher Natsuki Aoi, his junior Rika Makiba, and his classmates Rinne Byakuya and Nemu Manaka.

As they attempt to make sense of their current situation, a voice suddenly declares through the monitor, "The game will now begin." La serie narra las aventuras de Ichigo Kurosaki, un adolescente que tiene la facultad de interactuar con los espíritus. 让裙子的衣角不起褶皱，让洁白的水手领不散开，慢慢的走路也成了修养的一种。当然，快迟到时踉踉跄跄的跑进教室的学生总还是存在的。其实，就好象是追求的画卷里所描绘的那种“有古典气质的女子”一般。在战争之前，使这种女子文化气质代代相传的原因，是因为这些女孩子的母亲也大多是这所学校所毕业的罢了

在这个学园的高等部有称作「姐妹（Soeurs）」由学生自主领导的体系。
