Number Six, Nine, Eight and Marina have travelled to the Everglades in order to find Five's chest, they come across a three headed alligator and battle it. Before being struck by Five, Six remembers striking the beast with lightning, Five blowing into his obsidian flute and Nine and Five bickering.
As she slowly awakens from unconsciousness, after her skull is fractured by Five's punch, she feels Marina healing her but she is immobilised by the pain. She remembers renting the fan propelled boat, travelling though the everglades and battling with the three headed alligator but is unable to recall how she was taken down.

While gathering her strength, Six attempts to work out what is happening around her, she hears fighting and shouting but she is unsure who is involved. She opens her eyes to see Eight pleading for calm and Nine badly injured.

Lady Midnight [Book] Goodreads
author: Cassandra Clare Margaret K. McElderry Books 2016 - 3
The Shadowhunters of Los Angeles star in the first novel in Cassandra Clare’s newest series, The Dark Artifices, a sequel to the internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments series. Lady Midnight is a Shadowhunters novel.

It’s been five years since the events of City of Heavenly Fire that brought the Shadowhunters to the brink of oblivion. Emma Carstairs is no longer a child in mourning, but a young woman bent on discovering what killed her parents and avenging her losses.

Together with her parabatai Julian Blackthorn, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches across Los Angeles, from the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica. If only her heart didn’t lead her in treacherous directions…

Making things even more complicated, Julian’s brother Mark—who was captured by the faeries five years ago—has been returned as a bargaining chip. The faeries are desperate to find out who is murdering their kind—and they need the Shadowhunters’ help to do it. But time works differently in faerie, so Mark has barely aged and doesn’t recognize his family. Can he ever truly return to them? Will the faeries really allow it?

Glitz, glamours, and Shadowhunters abound in this heartrending opening to Cassandra Clare’s Dark Artifices series.

The anthology Diaspora Ad Astra: An Anthology of Science Fiction from the Philippines represents science fiction made by Filipinos for Filipinos. Or will we be running a guerrilla war against mad robots as the rest of homo sapiens flee into space in derelict battleships?

Because of this, we’ve collected these Filipino stories that look into a multitude of possible futures. Moreover, with these stories, we offer you hope that there will be a future where Filipinos will still—whether we attain greatness or not—play a role on the stage of humanity.

Welcome to the future of Filipinos shaped by Filipino dreams.

Philippine Speculative Fiction Sampler [Book] Goodreads
author: Nikki Alfar / Dean Francis Alfar Kestrel DMM and Flipside Publishing 2012 - 1
The “Philippine Speculative Fiction” annual anthology series was launched, essentially, to celebrate the Filipino’s intrinsic détente with the strange—whether comfortable or uncomfortable, handled with matter-of-fact acceptance, reluctant resignation, or unthinking obliviousness—in nurturing a “literature of the fantastic.” In these pages, you’ll find a few of the most exemplary stories we’ve had the privilege of publishing over our first seven—and counting, hopefully—volumes. Within them, you’ll recognize elements of fantasy, horror, and science fiction. So welcome to the “Philippine Speculative Fiction Sampler”; I trust you’ll enjoy this taste of what we keep cooking up. As they say in our tourism ads, “it’s more fun in the Philippines.” And as we tend to say, in response to statements of the blindingly obvious, “mismo.”
