blessed to be able to watch this total tokusatsu nonsense from tsuburaya in pristine HD. anime-chan (Fushigi Yamada, 25 when this was filmed, apparently 12 in the movie?) and her younger brother manga (anime has top bunk, manga has bottom bunk, their dad is a mangaka) are fooling around on the computer in their bedroom and bring manga’s wall drawings of booska, kanegon, and pigmon to life. hijinks predictably ensue. eventually the trio get part-time jobs to pitch in to the household and make up for their outsized kaiju appetites, but, a seeming betrayal and the threat of total annihilation as punishment teach us all a little lesson about friendship and rushing to judgment
