Absurdism either works or doesn't work for me. For example, I like the films of Yorgos Lanthimos and Anders Thomas Jensen, and I love Delicatessen (1991). You, the Living is a film that tries too hard to be funny in a dry, absurdist way. It succeeds in being dry, but not really in being funny to me. I stopped watching it after about 15 minutes, which is usually enough for me to decide whether it's going to work out.
